Instead, it\u2019s a full on replacement for the seven-year-old\u00a0<em>Overwatch<\/em>, which will stop working when\u00a0<em>Overwatch 2<\/em> arrives on October 4th. Given previous <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>, this isn\u2019t much of a surprise.<\/p>\n<p>When\u00a0<em>Overwatch 2<\/em> was initially announced in 2019, former <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>\u00a0director Jeff Kaplan said that the new and old titles would have a \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/kotaku.com\/overwatch-2-announced-with-emotional-trailer-1839540143\">shared multiplayer environment<\/a>.\u201d People assumed that he meant cross-play, though in recent months it\u2019s become clear that the original\u00a0<em>Overwatch<\/em> will <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/win.gg\/news\/can-overwatch-1-players-play-with-overwatch-2-players\/\">lose its gameplay system<\/a> (specifically 6v6) and take on the new game\u2019s format.<\/p>\n<p>Replacing an old title\u2019s gameplay to match the sequel makes zero sense. So, fans began speculating that the original\u00a0<em>Overwatch<\/em> would simply shut down. And the current game director, Aaron Keller, has confirmed as much in a\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Games\/comments\/vicyeq\/were_the_team_behind_overwatch_2_which_will_be\/\">Reddit AMA<\/a>. He says that \u201cwhen OW2 launches on October 4, it will be a replacement for the current Live Service.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe\u2019re launching with new heroes, maps, and features, but there are even more of these coming seasonally\u2014every nine weeks. We recently released a roadmap detailing some of this content, with a new hero coming in Seasons 1 and 2, and a new map in Season 2\u2026 When OW2 launches on October 4, it will be a replacement for the current Live Service.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>So, say hello to 5v5 matches and other changes introduced in\u00a0<em>Overwatch 2<\/em>. If you don\u2019t enjoy the new game, I guess that\u2019s all there is to it.<\/p>\n<p>The good news is that your progress in\u00a0<em>Overwatch<\/em> will carry over to\u00a0<em>Overwatch 2<\/em>.
