“#NYC homeless man says he \u2018agrees\u2019 with homeless hotel concerns<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n A homeless man said he understands New York City residents\u2019 concerns about vagrants being moved into hotels, saying no one wants \u201ccraziness\u201d at their front door.<\/p>\n

Sal Salomon is one of hundreds of homeless dumped at the makeshift shelters \u2014 a move by the city that\u2019s drawn ire from local residents and complaints of drug use and other crime.<\/p>\n

\u201cA part of me agrees with them,\u201d Salomon, 48, told CBS New York. \u201cWho wants craziness in front of your doorstep?\u201d<\/p>\n

Salomon has been in and out of shelters in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, comparing them to \u201cprison.\u201d<\/p>\n

The avid singer, who worked on a song for the Oscar-nominated movie \u201cThe Wrestler,\u201d hit a downward spiral of depression after his brother, parents and close friend all died.<\/p>\n

His marriage went down the drain \u2014 and then, he found himself on the streets.<\/p>\n

\u201cSleeping on a bench, sleeping on a train, I totally didn\u2019t want to live,\u201d Salomon said, choking up. \u201cI wound up becoming one of those people that you look at.\u201d<\/p>\n

He recently left a hotel near John F. Kennedy International Airport and is staying at a relative\u2019s place in Hell\u2019s Kitchen.<\/p>\n

He suggested that the city spend more time investing in services that actually help the homeless \u2014 instead of shunting them around from hotel to hotel.<\/p>\n

\u201cHelp divert these funds that are going to these private companies, that are just warehousing them, and use those funds for qualified psychiatrists,\u201d Salomon said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
