Russia\u2019s goal is to break Ukraine\u2019s will to resist, and attacking civilians is part of that strategy.\u201d Moscow has signed the Geneva Conventions, which ban such attacks, but Vladimir Putin thinks he\u2019ll \u201cget away\u201d with such strikes \u201cif he can defeat Ukraine or force it to submit to his peace terms.\u201d Most worrisome: There\u2019ll be \u201cmore of this in more countries if Russia prevails in Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conservative_Its_Dems_Who_Threaten_Democracy\"><\/span><strong>Conservative: It\u2019s Dems Who Threaten Democracy<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThose who seek to destroy or delegitimize the Supreme Court for upholding the Constitution are no better than those who desire to overturn or delegitimize presidential elections,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/27\/democrats-have-become-a-serious-threat-to-the-republic\/\">thunders David Harsanyi at The Federalist<\/a>. Then again, \u201cDemocrats treat every victory of the opposition as dubiously attained.\u201d \u201cWhen the Supreme Court concocted the constitutional \u2018right\u2019 to abortion in 1973, the pro-life movement . . . spent 50 years\u201d building political momentum for its cause. Those are the rules, and if Dems are \u201cunh<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>y\u201d with them, they\u2019re free to try to amend the Constitution. \u201cBut, for the contemporary left, \u2018democracy\u2019 isn\u2019t just a euphemism for \u2018policies we support\u2019 anymore, it\u2019s a pernicious belief that Republicans have a responsibility to live in a political system that exists outside of the Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Legal_take_Roes_Gone_What_Now\"><\/span><strong>Legal take: Roe\u2019s Gone. What Now?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Now that Roe v. Wade has been overruled, \u201cwhat\u2019s next?\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/roe-v-wade-is-gone\">asks Manhattan Institute Director of Legal Policy James Copland<\/a> at City Journal. \u201cThe Court\u2019s decision does not mean that abortion is now illegal across the United States.\u201d And while some states will limit abortion, perhaps outlawing it \u201cafter a fetal heartbeat is detected,\u201d others will continue to permit even late-term abortions. The result will be a \u201cstate-by-state patchwork\u201d that may resemble Europe\u2019s rules, which vary by country. Progressives are sure to continue to \u201cpress Congress to enact abortion protections into law,\u201d but anything controversial would have to break the filibuster and so is likely to fail. \u201cThus, abortion policy is likely to be in political play for the foreseeable future . . . precisely because . . . in the Dobbs court\u2019s words, it\u2019s such a \u2018profound moral issue.\u2019\u200a\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Court_watch_Targeting_Thomas_Is_Racist\"><\/span><strong>Court watch: Targeting Thomas Is Racist<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cWhy has Clarence Thomas become the target of so much flak following the Supreme Court\u2019s overturning of Roe v Wade? It\u2019s because he\u2019s black,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.spiked-online.com\/2022\/06\/26\/clarence-thomas-and-the-racism-of-the-woke-elites\/\">fumes Spiked\u2019s Brendan O\u2019Neill<\/a>. And as a black person, \u201che is not meant to hold conservative views on issues like abortion.\u201d This is just another example \u201cof identity politics crossing the line into flagrant, undeniable racism.\u201d Case in point: After the Roe decision, \u201cUncle Clarence\u201d trended online for hours. But lurking behind this racialized animus \u201cis a very ugly idea: that blacks belong to \u2018progressives.\u2019\u200a\u201d That\u2019s \u201cintrinsically racist,\u201d given that \u201cit reduces an entire race of people to a monolithic bloc who must all think and behave in the same way.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"From_the_right_Justices_Next_Blockbuster\"><\/span><strong>From the right: Justices\u2019 Next Blockbuster<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A Supreme Court ruling in West Virginia v. the Environmental Protection Agency \u201ccould prove far more consequential\u201d even than the court\u2019s Roe decision if it decides \u201cruling by executive agency fiat is no longer acceptable,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/opinion\/one-more-blockbuster-supreme-court-decision-could-still-be-coming-after-fridays-abortion-ruling\">suggests Liz Peek at Fox News<\/a>. Team Obama\u2019s EPA implemented its Clean Power Plan, which \u201cwould have completely reordered our nation\u2019s power grid,\u201d though Congress never drafted language to permit it. President Biden also \u201cwants to effectively shut down our fossil fuel industries that provide cheap, plentiful and reliable energy.\u201d But should policies that affect every American \u201cbe made by unelected DC bureaucrats or by Congress\u201d?
