Wade asked the company for \u201cspace and time\u201d to \u201cgrieve\u201d and \u201cprotest against this assault on our rights,\u201d according to a leaked letter.<\/p>\n<p>The petition was reportedly signed by hundreds of employees at the Seattle-based retail giant, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/amazon-employees-abortion-supreme-court-roe-internal-petition-2022-6\">according to Insider.<\/a> A copy of the petition was posted online by the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> account \u201cLibs of TikTok.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The letter also demands that Amazon \u201ccease operations in states that enact laws that threaten the lives and liberty of abortion seekers, either by denying healthcare in life threatening circumstances or by criminalizing abortion seekers and providers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amazon\u2019s human resources chief Beth Galetti on Friday implored workers to \u201cbe respectful of everyone\u2019s perspectives\u201d after arguments over abortion broke out on the company\u2019s Slack platform. The fights reportedly erupted in the #christians channel, according to Insider.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany Amazonians are experiencing strong emotions following the recent US Supreme Court ruling,\u201d Galetti wrote on Friday.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"embed-wrapper twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">SCOOP: Hundreds of Amazon employees signed an open letter to Amazon leadership demanding they cease doing business in states where abortion is illegal and requesting time off to grieve the Supreme Court ruling <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qWSts5KAcJ\">pic.twitter.com\/qWSts5KAcJ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/libsoftiktok\/status\/1541557369179619331?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 27, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAs a company with 1.6 million employees, there are a lot of different viewpoints on this topic across our team, and we work to be respectful of everyone\u2019s perspectives while also taking care of and supporting our employees\u2019 personal medical needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Post has sought comment from Amazon.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>In May, Amazon announced that it would cover up to $4,000 in expenses annually for employees who need to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> to other states to access treatment for non-life-threatening situations including abortion and transgender care.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon already covered travel reimbursement of up to $10,000 for treatment of life-threatening conditions, according to Reuters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But the May announcement, which was made after the online <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> site Politico obtained a leaked draft of the Supreme Court ruling, doesn\u2019t go far enough for some Amazon employees.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon workers also want the company to \u201cpublicly and unequivocally denounce this decision\u201d as well as \u201corganize company-sponsored protests in support of Amazon employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The employees called on management to give matching donations to organizations that offer abortion access and to \u201cexpand remote work options to allow employees the option to relocate to states that choose to preserve their basic human rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court on Friday issued a 5-4 decision that overturned Roe v. Wade.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The ruling opens the door for states with Republican-dominated legislatures and governorships to either ban abortion outright or severely restrict the procedure.<\/p>\n<p>In the days and weeks ahead, as many as 28 states could either outlaw the procedure entirely or impose strict limits on when pregnant women can obtain an abortion.<\/p>\n<p>In response, several Fortune 500 companies, including Amazon, reassured their employees that they would cover travel expenses incurred as a result of being forced to go out of state to undergo an abortion.<\/p>\n<p>Alphabet-owned Google said it will allow its employees to move between states \u201cwithout justification.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Employees at other tech giants have been frustrated by their bosses\u2019 hesitance in condemning the high court decision.<\/p>\n<p>An engineer at Meta publicly blasted his company after it reminded its employees that they are not to openly talk about Friday\u2019s\u00a0Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v.
