Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>lers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is a rare bit of good <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> for aviation design. I\u2019m still smarting from Ryanair\u2019s idea to <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/consumerist.com\/2011\/10\/ryanair-now-planning-to-remove-toilets-from-planes.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">remove toilets from planes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and its <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/aviointeriors.it\/aviointeriors-skyrider-2-0\/https:\/\/aviointeriors.it\/aviointeriors-skyrider-2-0\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Skyrider<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> concept, a \u201cstanding seat\u201d from the pits of hell.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">It\u2019s baaaaaack! And now you can \u2014 all without shelling out for tickets you need a mortgage for.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes, I\u2019m talking about Air New Zealand\u2019s sleep pods. Each bunk-bed unit has its own mattress, sheets, privacy curtain, USB charging, and ventilation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the pods are communal, and the passengers can only book a pod for four hours.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Worse, there are only six pods per plane. It\u2019s the brainchild of graduate student Alejandro N\u00fa\u00f1ez Vicente who told <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/travel\/article\/double-decker-airplane-cabin-concepts-crystal-cabin-awards\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CNN Travel<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of his goal to \u201cchange the economy class seats for the better of humanity, or for all the people that cannot afford to pay for more expensive tickets.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lofty ambition or masochistic design?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I like the under-storage for those seated above, and I\u2019m short enough that being that close to the ceiling in an upper seat wouldn\u2019t bother me. But I dislike my chance of staying upright when stepping down \u2014 especially after a few gin and tonics.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But while some marvel at N\u00fa\u00f1ez Vicente\u2019s innovation, the internet is divided, with posters on <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Damnthatsinteresting\/comments\/vcmnq3\/double_decker_airplane_seat_for_budget_air_travel\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reddit<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> concerned about ease of evacuation, the risk of breaking your knees, and claustrophobia for the lower passenger. Imagine it. You can open your laptop without fear that the moron in front of you will push their seat back and break it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While most of these ideas are more in the design than the commercial phase, what\u2019s clear is that flying \u2014 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">especially luxury aviation<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 is still incredibly popular.
