\n Bowling alleys across New York state and museums in the city can soon reopen from their coronavirus shutdowns \u2014 as a decision on opening gyms will come Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Friday.<\/p>\n

Bowling alleys statewide, including in the city, will be permitted to reopen Monday, Aug. 17, at 50 percent capacity with every other lane closed, Cuomo told reporters during a press briefing via a conference call.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven the result that we have and given the process we have made\u201d bowling alleys can reopen, the governor said, adding, \u201cYou must wear a face covering\u2026the party must stay with the party at the lane that they are bowling in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Food and drink service will only be allowed at the lane the patrons are in.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey come to you,\u201d Cuomo said in reference to the servers. \u201cYou don\u2019t go to a bar. You don\u2019t go to a food concession \u2013 they come to you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cuomo also announced that low-risk cultural institutions like museums and aquariums can reopen in New York City on Aug. 24 at 25 percent capacity. Those types of venues have already been permitted to open in other counties across the state.<\/p>\n

Ticketing will be required with \u201cpre-staggered\u201d entry, Cuomo said.<\/p>\n

The governor also said that his long-anticipated guidance on gym protocols will be announced Monday.<\/p>\n

Gyms and fitness centers in the Empire State remain shuttered as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

Cuomo announced the loosening of restrictions as he explained that the New York has seen a COVID-19 positivity infection rate at less than 1 percent for seven days straight.<\/p>\n

There is still, however, no state guidance or indication as to when indoor dining can resume in New York City.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
