\n The Macy\u2019s employee brutally beaten inside a Michigan mall is requesting leniency for his attacker \u2014 who testified this week that his brother falsely claimed the store manager called him a racial slur.<\/p>\n

Damire Palmer, 18, pleaded guilty Wednesday to the caught-on-video June 15 attack at the Flint store, local outlet WJRT-TV reported.<\/p>\n

But Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said the Macy\u2019s employee, who is still dealing with the trauma of the assault, declined to take the stand.<\/p>\n

Instead, they decided on a plea agreement which dictates that the felony charge against Palmer \u2014 assault with intent to do great bodily less than murder \u2014 would be dropped from his record if he completes his sentence.<\/p>\n

That sentence could range from probation to 10 years behind bars, according to the report. At the victim\u2019s request, the agreement ensures that the teen will not have a felony record.<\/p>\n

\u201cBasically, you beat this guy so bad he was quite bloody correct?\u201d the assistant prosecutor asked Palmer, according to WJRT-TV.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes,\u201d Palmer replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd did you know that he has agreed that you should be treated as a youthful offender even though you beat on him like that?\u201d the assistant prosecutor asked him.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, I did not know that,\u201d the teen answered.<\/p>\n

The teen explained that just before the attack, he had asked the Macy\u2019s employee a question \u201cabout the jacket type that I was about to get.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the manager replied, the teen\u2019s brother told him the worker called him the n-word, he claimed. He has since learned that his brother made up that account.<\/p>\n

Palmer said he \u201cwouldn\u2019t know\u201d why his brother would do such a thing, according to the report.<\/p>\n

The viral video of the attack even captured President Donald Trump\u2019s attention.<\/p>\n

\u201cLooks what\u2019s going on here,\u201d Trump wrote on June 22. \u201cWhere are the protesters? Was this man arrested?\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
