Kelly was reportedly placed on suicide watch following his sentencing on Wednesday (June 29). According to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/07\/01\/us\/r-kelly-suicide-watch-sentencing\/index.html\"><em>CNN,<\/em><\/a>\u00a0Kelly\u2019s attorney Jennifer Bonjean said the embattled R&amp;B singer is under the watchful eye of the New York federal detention facility where he\u2019s being held.<\/p>\n<p>Bonjean, however, denies her client is thinking of harming himself, telling the outlet, \u201cThe irony of putting someone on suicide watch when they\u2019re not suicidal is it actually causes more harm.\u201d Prosecutors who spoke with prison officials told Bonjean he was only given those conditions because of his celebrity status.<\/p>\n<p>Bonjean added, \u201cIt\u2019s punishment for being high-profile. And it\u2019s horrifying frankly. Kelly\u00a0was sl<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ed with a\u00a030-year prison sentence\u00a0in a New York City courtroom earlier this week. Kelly was facing between 10 years to life behind bars for sex trafficking and Judge Ann Donnelly certainly wasn\u2019t conservative when handing down the sentence.<\/p>\n<p>Bonjean said in a post-sentencing press conference, she planned to appeal, noting the additional Racketeer Influenced &amp; Corrupt Organization (RICO) act charge was \u201cinappropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese were not a RICO act violation,\u201d Bonjean said at the 2:36-minute mark. \u201cThese were isolated events that happened many years and the government simply tried to plead around the statute of limitations to bring in a RICO charge, which was inappropriate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll I can tell you is there was no enterprise. There was no enterprise. It was one man with allegations by a number of women, which doesn\u2019t make it an enterprise, and that is why he\u2019s not guilty of racketeering.<\/p>\n<p>Bonjean added she was \u201cexcited\u201d about the appeal and \u201cconfident\u201d their arguments will persuade the court of appeals.
