\n Retrieving nut huggers from the pool never ended so badly.<\/p>\n

A Texas girl\u2019s attempt to save a poor squirrel went hilariously awry after the rodent leaped at her face, as seen in a viral YouTube<\/a> video from June 7.<\/p>\n

\u201cI called my daughter outside to see a squirrel trapp<\/a>ed in my granddaughter\u2019s kiddie pool,\u201d the unnamed father tells Viral Hog of the nutty incident in Lumberton. He added that being an \u201canimal lover,\u201d she \u201chad to attempt a rescue.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the clip, an unnamed girl in red can be seen attempting to free the floundering critter from the water while an off-camera voice warns \u201cdon\u2019t touch him.\u201d She almost succeeds at lifting the water-logged rodent out using a chair, but the squirrel doubles back and leaps onto its rescuer\u2019s body near her face, causing her to shriek with surprise. The clip concludes with the screaming girl fleeing the pool while the videographer guffaws hysterically in the background.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe squirrel was not quite as grateful as she had hoped!\u201d says the voice, of the ill-fated rescue bid.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, she came away from the incident with only a scratch on her arm and, \u201cafter a cautious second attempt, she did indeed rescue the squirrel,\u201d according to her proud dad.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, viewers are going nuts over her botched tree-hopper retrieval.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the funniest thing I\u2019ve seen in a long time,\u201d exclaimed one Facebook fan of her epic fail.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust put the chair down and it would have been able to climb out,\u201d suggested one YouTube viewer in retrospect.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time a squirrel has made online waves for its unpredictable nature. Last month, one of the hairy Houdinis went viral after navigating a \u201cninja warrior\u201d obstacle course designed by a former engineer for NASA.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
