\n Apple has asserted itself once again on the film side, winning an auction for an untitled Africa-set thriller that Idris Elba will star in. He will produce the film with Genre Films\u2019 Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon producing. Script was written by Travon Free (\u201cThe Daily Show\u201d), and is set in the action spy\/romance arena that launched Kinberg\u2019s star with \u201cMr. & Mrs. Smith.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elba stars and produced \u201cConcrete Cowboy,\u201d set to premiere at TIFF. He also stars in \u201cThe Suicide Squad\u201d coming summer 2021 and is about to begin production on \u201cThe Harder They Fall.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elba is repped by WME, The Artists Partnership and Ziffren Brittenham.<\/p>\n

Kinberg\/Chon and Genre Films are producing \u201cHere Comes The Flood,\u201d a heist script that Netflix won in another big auction in May. Pic just got Ozark\u2019s Jason Bateman as its director.<\/p>\n

Kinberg has the upcoming spy thriller \u201c355\u201d for Universal starring Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong\u2019o, Penelope Cruz, Diane Kruger and Fan Bin Bing set for release in Jan 2021. He also has the Apple untitled tentpole sci-fi series<\/a> that\u2019s been kept under wraps.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
