The two played together from 2004-11 with the Lakers and stayed close afterwards. Bryant tragically died in a helicopter crash in 2020 while Odom has dealt with substance abuse issues. <\/p>\n<p>Odom, who has a tattoo of Bryant on his neck, said that he\u2019s still inspired by his friend now. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s crazy,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s why I love coming back to L.A., too. Odom was also the league\u2019s Sixth Man of the Year in 2011, while Bryant was the 2008 MVP when he took the Lakers to the Finals, where they lost to the Celtics. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis spirit, it\u2019s so strong,\u201d Odom said. \u201cTo me, he\u2019s like not too far away.
