Carter<\/em> \u2014 was produced by Rockwilder, but listen close enough and one can hear the DNA of fellow New York producers Q-Tip and Swizz Beatz.<\/p>\n<p>During a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earance on Math Hoffa\u2019s <em>My Expert Opinion<\/em> podcast, Rockwilder credited the A Tribe Called Quest and Ruff Ryders legends as major influences on his jingling, jiggy-fied beat, which helped earn Hov his fifth top 10 hit on <em>Billboard\u2019s<\/em> Hot Rap Songs chart.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Do It Again\u2019 is a three-, three-, three-, four-[bar loop],\u201d he explained. \u201cI was trying to just be a little different from how the beat tapes was being submitted to Roc-A-Fella because they was going through beat tapes. Jay is a beat n-gga, he goes through them beats. Dame is definitely the comedy of it because if the shit ain\u2019t hot, he gon\u2019 laugh at you.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did [a three-bar loop] purposefully and I was definitely inspired off Q-Tip\u2019s three-bar beats. Q-Tip has amazing three-bar beats that I was definitely in love with. Shout out to Q-Tip. Thank you for \u2018Award Tour\u2019 because that was song was so infectious to my life right now, I play it every morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"JAY-Z - Do It Again (Put Ya Hands Up) ft. Amil, Beanie Sigel\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hp1QPTRs2U4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As for Swizz Beatz, Rockwilder attempted to imitate his epic intros, specifically citing the horn-laden opening of JAY-Z\u2019s \u201cJigga My N-gga\u201d (which was tacked onto the end of <em>Vol. 3\u2026 Life and Times of S. Carter<\/em> as a hidden song).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did see that the dance floor and the club was kinda going to this next thing, and Swizz was definitely introducing that type of vibe and energy,\u201d he said. \u201cI just took the hottest thing that was going on, and that was \u2018Jigga My N-gga.\u2019 Swizz used to have them intros and I was like, \u2018Alright, so in order for me to jump in, I gotta introduce my shit too.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rockwilder also delved into the somewhat complicated sample history of \u201cDo It Again (Put Ya Hands Up),\u201d which borrows its hook from Call O\u2019 Da Wild rapper Barron Ricks\u2019 intro from Cypress Hill\u2019s 1996 \u201cThrow Your Hands in the Air (Remix).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI actually took it from the a capella of \u2018Throw Your Hands [in the Air]\u2019 by Cypress Hill with MC Eiht, Redman and Erick Sermon,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m figuring since its only an a capella, ain\u2019t really nothing to clear \u2014 and it\u2019s a remix. I sample it, put it in the song and didn\u2019t think nothing of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSong comes out, blows up. All of a sudden, my lawyer calls me in the office and says, \u2018Yo, I got a call from a lady talking about \u2018Throw Your Hands Up\u2019 is somebody she knows. She put a claim in.\u2019 I was saying to myself, it does sound like [Prodigy] but how the fuck did \u2014 I just thought somebody was a good sample n-gga and they caught it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cypress Hill - Throw Your Hands In the Air (Remix - Official Video)\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dNO6aR79PZ4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Rockwilder \u2014 who also produced the <em>Vol. 3\u2026 Life and Times of S. Carter<\/em> cut \u201cNYMP\u201d\u2014 then recalled bumping into Ricks one day while buying records at the since-closed Virgin Megastore in Times Square.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis dude calls me to the cashier. I put all my shit up there,\u201d he continued. \u201cHe looks at me and he says, \u2018Yo, you Rockwilder, right?\u2019 I said, \u2018Yeah.\u2019 He said, \u2018Yo, I\u2019m the \u2018Throw Ya Hands Up\u2019 n-gga!\u2019 I said, \u2018Yo, how did you know that was you?\u2019 He said, \u2018I\u2019m laying down with my girl. The song comes on, I\u2019m like, \u2018Yo, this song is hot!\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe starts listening to it and says, \u2018Babe, that sounds like you!\u2019 He says, \u2018Nah! That ain\u2019t me.\u2019 She says, \u2018No, let\u2019s play this again. That\u2019s you!\u2019 She was the one that called my lawyer. He said, \u2018I would\u2019ve never knew.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, according to Rockwilder, it wasn\u2019t a simple case of giving Ricks a piece of the profits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough I sampled his voice, that was a remix of an original\u2026 so the original people get paid. The original \u2018Throw Ya Hands Up\u2019 mix, I think, gets paid off of the writers on that. The Soul Assassins remix, I don\u2019t know if they get the money. I hope he got paid!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Offering a consolation, he added, \u201cWell, I think right now he\u2019ll ride off into the sunset like, \u2018Yo, I\u2019m a part of history.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following the success of \u201cDo It Again (Put Ya Hands Up),\u201d Rockwilder went on to produce JAY-Z\u2019s \u201cGuilty Until Proven Innocent\u201d collaboration with R. Kelly, from 2000\u2019s <em>The Dynasty: Roc La Familia<\/em>.
