I didn\u2019t know what was going on. I thought someone fell into me at first. He moved more in front of me. It just h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened really quick,\u201d said Chestnut, who snagged his 15th win Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The competitive eater explained his decision to manhandle the 21-year-old demonstrator, who was hoisting a sign that read, \u201cExpose Smithfield\u2019s Deathstar,\u201d in a<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/philadelphia\/joey-chestnut-fights-protester-during-his-nathans-hot-dog-eating-contest-win\">\u00a0reported protest of Nathan\u2019s pork supplier<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen he got in front of me \u2026 I didn\u2019t know if he was gonna attack me. There was a little bit of panic, and that\u2019s why I grabbed him, and I wasn\u2019t sure \u2014 I didn\u2019t know how it was all gonna play out,\u201d he told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI kind of grabbed him, then he fell, and I was able to go back to eating, and I was really relieved that it didn\u2019t take that long,\u201d Chestnut said. \u201cThe whole incident wasn\u2019t that long. I\u2019m pretty sure I had something [in both hands], either a bun or a hot dog,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>The 6-foot-1, more than 235-pound professional scarfer soon realized the disruptor presented no danger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen he ran into me and I saw him, I freaked out for a second, but as soon as I grabbed him, I realized he was very small, and the way he fell to the ground, I was like, \u2018Oh, he\u2019s pretty much a kid,\u2019\u201d Chestnut said. \u201cThere was an initial shock. It all turned out OK. He wasn\u2019t really a threat. It was just a crazy kid.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>The elite eater \u2014 who on Friday showed up to his official weigh-in\u00a0on crutches\u00a0and competed Monday in a medical boot \u2014 said he didn\u2019t relish laying the headlock on the protester.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did feel a little bit bad,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was just an unfortunate situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lightning-fast maneuver was not practiced in a formal setting. The self-described \u201cband nerd\u201d has never wrestled competitively in high schools nor had he practiced martial arts, he told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust three brothers,\u201d Chestnut quipped. \u201cWe all wrestled as kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked if he thought the demonstrator would stop his scarfing down of dogs, Chestnut replied, \u201cFor a split second.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t know what he was doing,\u201d he continued. \u201cAfter he got out of the way, I was thinking about my rhythm, and if I could get into eating fast, and I was able to. It didn\u2019t affect me too much. I was able to keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The perennial chomping champ and California native said he enjoyed the 2022 competition, despite the bizarre disruption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a great day, it was great to be back on Coney Island eating,\u201d he said, \u201cand I\u2019m looking forward to next year.\u201d\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
