<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>       The two top members of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday urged the Federal Trade Commission to investigate TikTok and its parent company over how it handles user data.<\/p>\n<p> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.warner.senate.gov\/public\/_cache\/files\/3\/e\/3eeb87b3-e9b5-4aa4-8ea1-361a8472ff46\/A42795C63518B32671F9ACCF82B1E26A.khan-ssci-tiktok-letter.pdf\" class=\"icon none\">In a letter<\/a> to FTC Chair Lina Khan, Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., the committee\u2019s chairman, and Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., its vice chairman, cited recent <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> reports that TikTok\u2019s parent company, China-based ByteDance, has been \u201caccessing data on U.S. users, in contravention of several public representations.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       \u201cWe ask that your agency im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely initiate [an] investigation on the basis of <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>arent deception by TikTok, and coordinate this work with any national  security or counter-intelligence investigation that may be initiated by the U.S. Department of Justice,\u201d the senators wrote. \u201cAdditionally, these recent reports suggest that TikTok has also misrepresented its corporate governance practices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last month, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeednews.com\/article\/emilybakerwhite\/tiktok-tapes-us-user-data-china-bytedance-access\" class=\"icon none\">Buzzfeed News reported<\/a> that U.S. user data has been repeatedly accessed from China, raising security concerns that China\u2019s government could access sensitive personal information through backdoor methods.
