Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>le TV  sports comedy \u201cTed Lasso.\u201d The <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> follows Ted (played by show co-creator and \u201cSNL\u201d alum Jason Sudeikis), an American football coach who\u2019s recruited to coach an English Premier League soccer team \u2014 despite having little knowledge of soccer or of the UK. Goldstein plays the team\u2019s surly captain, Roy Kent.<\/p>\n<p>Goldstein also co-created \u201cSoulmates,\u201d premiering Oct. 5 on AMC. It\u2019s an episodic anthology set in a near-future where <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a> develops a test enabling people to discover their true loves. He\u2019s also appeared in episodes of \u201cDoctor Who\u201d and \u201cDerek,\u201d the Ricky Gervais series on Netflix.<\/p>\n<p>Goldstein, 40, spoke to The Post about why he finally made his father proud with \u201cTed Lasso,\u201d working with Jason Sudeikis, \u201cSoulmates\u201d and more.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_drew_you_to_%E2%80%9CTed_Lasso%E2%80%9D\"><\/span>What drew you to \u201cTed Lasso\u201d?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019m a huge fan of [series co-creator] Bill Lawrence. I like that \u2018Scrubs\u2019 is very funny and silly and broad, but also emotional and real \u2014 sometimes within the same scene. I think that\u2019s very impressive. I<span> hadn\u2019t met Jason before; I had like an hour-and-a-half [FaceTime] meeting with him at 1 in the morning and we got on so well. It was great. What I realized is that you sort of have a cheat sheet the other actors don\u2019t have. Because [for] the actors who are also [\u201cTed Lasso\u201d] writers, we know where it\u2019s going. So it helped to calibrate our performances, if that doesn\u2019t sound too pretentious. It was fun because me and Jason could try out different jokes or different things on the day we were shooting.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_was_working_with_Jason_Sudeikis\"><\/span>How was working with Jason Sudeikis?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Jason is very funny \u2014 he\u2019s brilliant and he has such a clear idea of what he wanted for the whole show. He has a real vision for every character. It\u2019s quite amazing\u2026you talk to him and he\u2019s like a superbrain. However, when you\u2019re doing scenes with him, he\u2019d improvise a new line every take, and it made it hard to get through it without laughing. I think he enjoyed surprising everyone. There were many times where I laughed far too much, and my character in particular is not much of a smiler. He\u2019s an obsessive football fan. And I think he wanted me to be a footballer and I wasn\u2019t. Instead, I probably disappointed him by going into the arts. And so, to be able to send him a video of me leading a football team onto a real pitch\u2026[for the show] we went to Crystal Palace, to the actual stadium, and walked out onto the field. To be able to send my dad that [clip], and for him to finally be proud of me, I\u2019d say that was the highlight.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_can_you_share_about_your_upcoming_AMC_show_%E2%80%9CSoulmates%E2%80%9D\"><\/span>What can you share about your upcoming AMC show \u201cSoulmates?\u201d<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s an anthology show I co-created with William Bridges, set 15 years in the future where science has found evidence of the human soul \u2014 so now people can be matched with their soulmates. It\u2019s six different stories about six different relationships and how they\u2019re affected living in a world in which this test exists. For example, if you\u2019re single in your late 20s, this test is amazing. But if you\u2019ve been married for 15 years, happily, and you have kids and your life is fine but suddenly you\u2019re told you could find out who your actual soulmate is, it could cause you lots of trouble.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E2%80%9CSoulmates%E2%80%9D_is_more_serious_than_%E2%80%9CTed_Lasso%E2%80%9D_Do_you_have_a_preference_as_far_as_what_genre_you_work_in\"><\/span>\u201cSoulmates\u201d is more serious than \u201cTed Lasso.\u201d Do you have a preference as far as what genre you work in?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019m interested in all of it, but I also do believe that all things should have some comedy in it. If I\u2019m watching a heavy drama and there\u2019s no moment of people laughing, I always think that\u2019s not realistic. Like, people in war zones laugh, humor is a coping mechanism. So anything that I write, I hope would have some humor in it even if it\u2019s dark.
