A highly placed team staffer alleged that Jody\u2019s \u201ctoxic behavior\u201d \u2014 dating back to allegations of harassing bodyguards and violating US import laws \u2014 has spilled over into the management of the team.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In December 2021, Neil Olshey, President of Basketball Operations, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nba\/news\/trail-blazers-fire-neil-olshey-after-investigation-into-his-workplace-behavior\/\">was fired from the Trail Blazers <\/a>for violating the team\u2019s code of conduct after an investigation revealed a decade of workplace toxicity and sexual harassment.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/phil-knight-01.jpg?w=683\" alt=\"Nike founder Phil Knight has made a $2 billion bid to buy the Portland Trail Blazers from owner Jody Allen.\" class=\"wp-image-22942572\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/phil-knight-01.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1366 1366w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/phil-knight-01.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/phil-knight-01.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=683 683w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/phil-knight-01.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=341 341w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\"\/><figcaption>Nike founder Phil Knight has made a $2 billion bid to buy the Portland Trail Blazers from owner Jody Allen.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">NBAE via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIntimidation and profanity-laced tirades\u201d were cited in the investigation among Olshey\u2019s methods of management. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI heard a number of stories about how badly people felt Neil treated them,\u201d Miller told The Post. \u201cIt got to a boiling point and it\u2019s something that Jody and Bert should have been well aware of and done something about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In November, Blazers CEO\/President Chris McGowan \u2014\u00a0who also served as CEO of Vulcan Sports &amp; Entertainment, the company founded by the Allens \u2014 quit after nine years, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/theathletic.com\/2952748\/2021\/11\/12\/quick-inside-the-trail-blazers-and-the-struggle-that-led-chris-mcgowan-to-resign-as-ceo\/\">allegedly because of frustration with Jody and Kolde.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Trail Blazers are not as successful as they could have been. Paul would consult [Kolde], but [Paul] would make the decisions,\u201d Miller added. \u201cJody\u2019s letting Bert make all the decisions now.<\/p>\n<p>According to Miller, Jody even refused to take Knight\u2019s call when the Nike founder, who has an estimated fortune of $54.5 billion, put his initial offer together: \u201cShe did not take Phil\u2019s call. Then he tried to email her. Eventually she just never responded and put him in touch with Bert,\u201d the source alleged. \u201cWhen you own a team, there are critical key decisions to make and you should be the one involved in making the decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reps for Jody Allen as well as the Portland Trail Blazers did not respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Allen left his estate \u2014 including the Trail Blazers and the NFL\u2019s Seattle Seahawks \u2014 to his sister following his death from cancer, at age 65, in October 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Miller, who spent five years with the Trail Blazers, said that Jody has become more involved since her brother\u2019s passing, adding: \u201cWhen Paul was alive, she hardly came to a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>. Now she comes to all the games, she\u2019s visible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For years, Jody and Paul had to face accusations of bad behavior. At least 15 former members of the Allens\u2019 personal security detail brought civil claims against them, with 13 eventually settling out of court.<\/p>\n<p>Former members of the siblings\u2019 security detail, including veterans of elite military units, said in sworn depositions in 2012 that Jody sexually harassed bodyguards and directed them to smuggle animal bones out of Africa and Antarctica. Stable, solid good ownership is what leads to winning, you can\u2019t win if you don\u2019t have solid consistent reliable ownership. Portland has definitely\u00a0not had that since Paul passed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe issue is that Bert doesn\u2019t want to sell, he will drag this out as long as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even though the Allen trust specified that Jody should sell the Trail Blazers, multiple reports have claimed that she is unwilling to give the team up.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, a Blazers spokesperson confirmed that the Paul G. Allen Trust was \u201cnot interested in parting with the team,\u201d following the bid from Knight along with Major League Baseball\u2019s Los Angeles Dodgers co-owner Alan Smolinisky, adding the franchise was \u201cnot for sale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But, Jody noted in her statement this week, \u201cA time will come when that changes given Paul\u2019s plan to dedicated the vast majority of his wealth to philanthropy, but estates of this size and complexity can take 10 to 20 years to wind down.\u201d\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
