\n The Jets offensive line is hoping they can speed up the bonding process with text message chains and game<\/a>s of \u201cCall of Duty.\u201d <\/p>\n

Center Connor McGovern, one of four new starters along the line, said Friday that the group is doing whatever it can to build chemistry before the regular season gets here. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a little bit difficult but we\u2019ve been doing what we can whether it\u2019s we have a group text where we\u2019re always communicating with each other, sending stuff in whether it\u2019s memes or jokes or serious topics, whatever,\u201d McGovern said. \u201cThat\u2019s how we kind of started.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group is now in Florham Park together at training camp and tries to spend its downtime together, whether that means in person or virtually.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that we\u2019ve been together, there\u2019s not a whole lot else to do but hang out with each other,\u201d McGovern said. \u201cWhen you go back to your hotel room and you have two hours of break and you\u2019re done watching film or studying your notebook, hop on Xbox together a little bit. It\u2019s actually kind of funny how something as simple as playing \u2018Call of Duty\u2019 as a group of four of us, how much that brings you together because you\u2019re joking the whole time.\u201d<\/p>\n

McGovern said quarterback Sam Darnold also is spending plenty of time with the linemen. McGovern, who signed with the Jets as a free agent after three years with the Broncos, said the group is coming together quickly.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if it\u2019s the group of guys [general<\/a> manager] Joe Douglas brought together or the pandemic or what have you, but this is one of the closer groups as a whole that I\u2019ve been around,\u201d he said. \u201cThe offense as a hole isn\u2019t clique-y. Everyone wants to be around the same people. Everybody is working really hard to get to know each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jets coach Adam Gase did not touch a question about defensive coordinator Gregg Williams\u2019 comment tweaking the Seahawks on Thursday. Williams said safety Jamal Adams, traded to Seattle by the Jets, may get \u201cbored\u201d in the Seahawks defense because they won\u2019t use him as creatively as Williams did with the Jets.<\/p>\n

\u201cJamal [Adams] is in Seattle,\u201d Gase said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to worry about ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Jets are counting on DL Quinnen Williams to make a leap in his second season. Gase said he can tell Williams is focused. <\/p>\n

\u201cQuinnen has come in and he\u2019s gone to work,\u201d Gase said. \u201cThe couple times I\u2019ve rolled by him, chatted with him, he looks like he\u2019s got his head down, he\u2019s working. He isn\u2019t looking to talk much.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
