They are going to have a Delaware judge enforce that contract and say, these are the reasons why.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen the question is, ok, you are forcing Mr. Musk to buy the company, does he actually agree to do it?\u201d Faber added. \u201cThere is this argument being said lately that, well, maybe he won\u2019t comply with that. In May, Columbia law professor John Coffee told Fox Business <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>\u2019 Charlie Gasparino that even in a civil suit, Musk could be sl<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ed with contempt of court charges that could lead to jail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwitter can sue for an injunction ordering him to close,\u201d Gasparino <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CGasparino\/status\/1526982366702469123\">tweeted on May 18<\/a>, noting that the law professor called it a \u201cvery unusual but plausible\u201d scenario. \u201cIf he violated that injunction, he could go to jail for contempt until he complied.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/opinion\/articles\/2022-07-09\/elon-s-out?sref=1kJVNqnU#xj4y7vzkg\">Bloomberg columnist Matt Levine<\/a>\u00a0noted the possibility that Musk could refuse to buy Twitter even if a Delaware court orders him \u2014 but also appeared skeptical that jail was a possibility. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat if the court orders Musk to close the deal and he says no? They\u2019re not gonna put him in Chancery jail,\u201d Levine wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe guy is\u00a0pretty contemptuous\u00a0of legal authority; he thinks he is above the law and\u00a0he might be right. The Post has reached out to CNBC and Musk\u2019s office for comment.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"\/>\n<p>Musk has already laughed off Twitter\u2019s looming lawsuit, poking fun at the company\u2019s board in a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of memes.<\/p>\n<p>Musk\u2019s camp indicated in an SEC filing last Friday that the billionaire was backing out of the Twitter deal. His legal team said that Twitter has repeatedly avoided inquiries about the number of spam bots within its user base \u2013 with Musk arguing that the number is far higher than the company claims.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Twitter has already lawyered up and indicated it plans to pursue legal action to compel Musk to follow through on his original $44 billion offer.
