Thankfully, you can get your Switch Joy-Cons repaired for free.<\/p>\n<p>This article mainly focuses on \u201cJoy-Con drift,\u201d as that\u2019s the main problem associated with Nintendo Switch controllers. Still, Nintendo will repair most other Joy-Con problems for free.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"First_Troubleshoot_Common_Joy-Con_Problems\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_0\">First, Troubleshoot Common Joy-Con Problems<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Before getting your Joy-Cons repaired, you should check that they\u2019re actually damaged. But we\u2019re going to cover \u201cJoy-Con drift\u201d here, as it\u2019s the most common problem experienced by Switch owners.<\/p>\n<p>If you notice that in-game characters are slowly moving around without any input, you\u2019re probably experiencing \u201cJoy-Con drift.\u201d This is a phenomenon where the joystick wears down and fails to center properly. But in some cases, it\u2019s simply due to poor calibration.<\/p>\n<p>So, we\u2019re going to try and recalibrate the joysticks. Turn on your Switch and navigate to the Settings (the wrench icon). Scroll down to the \u201cControllers and Sensors\u201d tab and select the \u201cCalibrate Control Sticks\u201d option.<\/p>\n<p>Now that you\u2019re on the calibration screen, follow the instructions to recalibrate your joysticks. This is pretty simple; if you don\u2019t see a blue plus symbol in the center of the on-screen crosshairs, you need to press \u201cX\u201d to start the automatic recalibration process.<\/p>\n<p>Open a game and test that the recalibration worked. Nintendo performs free Joy-Con repairs in most countries, though you need to fill out a form to submit a repair.<\/p>\n<p>Once you submit a repair form, Nintendo will give you a shipping label. You can send them company four Joy-Cons in a single box. If you need even more Joy-Cons repaired, Nintendo will give you additional shipping labels\u2014this is due to lithium-ion safety regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some regions where Nintendo performs Joy-Con repairs:<\/p>\n<p>Bear in mind that Nintendo only guarantees free out-of-warranty Joy-Con repairs in North America and Latin America. You can replace your Joy-Con joystick, battery, shell, or buttons at home without any crazy tools. All you need to do is buy the replacement part and look up a guide.<\/p>\n<p>I suggest checking out <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ifixit.com\/Device\/Joy-Con\">iFixit\u2019s repair guides<\/a> to see if you\u2019re up to the task. This is some basic stuff, though it can be intimidating for a beginner. If you decide that at-home repairs are worth the effort, it\u2019s time to shop for parts.<\/p>\n<p>Again, iFixit is the way to go. This company <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ifixit.com\/Store\/Game-Console\/Nintendo-Switch\">sells repair kits<\/a> for several Nintendo Switch components, and each kit includes replacement parts\u00a0<em>and<\/em> high-quality tools.
