If you\u2019d like to use absolute cell reference, meaning the cell references stay the same no matter where you put the formula, then in your original formula, add the <code>$<\/code> (dollar) sign before the column letter and the row number.<\/p>\n<p>For example, if your formula looks like this:<\/p>\n<pre>=C2+D2<\/pre>\n<p>And you don\u2019t want Excel to dynamically change D2, then tweak the formula as follows:<\/p>\n<pre>=C2+$D$2<\/pre>\n<p>You can use this cell reference in either of the following formula copy methods.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Method_1_Use_Copy_and_Paste_to_Copy_an_Excel_Formula\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_1\">Method 1: Use Copy and Paste to Copy an Excel Formula<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>One way to copy an Excel formula is to use your computer\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/671298\/how-to-copy-cut-and-paste-on-a-windows-pc\/\">traditional copy and paste method, which involves pressing Ctrl+C for copying and Ctrl+V for pasting.
