Breeds with short snouts are even more vulnerable to the heat because their mouths are usually too small to offer effective heat relief by panting, Freeman explained. <\/p>\n<p>If you think your dog may be suffering from <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.akcchf.org\/canine-health\/your-dogs-health\/caring-for-your-dog\/heat-stroke-and-heat-exhaustion.html\">heat exhaustion<\/a>, look out for some key symptoms, including:&#13;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sudden exhaustion or weakness <\/li>\n<li>Diarrhea and\/or vomiting<\/li>\n<li>Excessive panting<\/li>\n<li>A change in gum color from pink to dark red or purple <\/li>\n<li>Seizures and sudden collapse<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If your dog has any of these symptoms, Freeman advises you im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely move them to a shaded area or indoors. Offer them cold water, and call your veterinarian. They may be able to provide more timely advice.<\/p>\n<p>Under no circumstances should you leave your animal in the car on a hot day, even if the windows are cracked. Just a couple of minutes can turn into a lethal situation, Freeman said.<\/p>\n<p>Other hallmarks of summer can prove overwhelming or stressful to your dog, like fireworks or a thunderstorm. Roughly one-third of all dogs suffer from noise anxiety when it comes to sudden, spontaneous sounds.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When they are in a situation where they are being bombarded with noises that are causing a tremendous amount of stress for them, they are looking for any source of security, and that includes a &#8216;safe&#8217; hiding place,&#8221; Freeman said in a Virginia Tech <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> release.<\/p>\n<p>If your dog is especially freaked out, or exhibits a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.akc.org\/expert-advice\/training\/common-fears-and-phobias-in-dogs\/\">phobia<\/a>, there are a few different things you can try to do to help.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> rule is to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach any phobia through behavior modification therapy, if that&#8217;s an option, desensitizing animals to the loud noises so they pretty much ignore them,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Other alternatives include sedatives, such as Sileo, an oral gel that is absorbed through the dog&#8217;s gums, Freeman said.
