He is being raised vegan, doesn\u2019t have to be \u201cdisciplined or yelled at\u201d, and at age 9 was still taking baths with his mother \u2014 it\u2019s safe to say he leads a very interesting life! And now the actress is giving us even more information on the very <em>very<\/em> close relationship she shares with her son.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Kourtney Kardashian\u2019s Parenting Style Allegedly Hurt Relationship With Scott Disick!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday\u2019s episode of <em>The Ellen Fisher Podcast<\/em>, the <em>Senior Year<\/em> actress spoke about her \u201cattachment parenting\u201d style once again, revealing that she and her now 11-year-old still co-sleep! She admitted:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cBear and I still sleep together.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Yep! She still shares a bed with her tween son! This comes as quite less of a shock than the whole \u201cchewing up food and spitting it into his mouth\u201d baby bird video that\u2019s still burned in our minds from 2012\u2026 But it\u2019s still pretty far out from what experts recommend!<\/p>\n<p>She went on to joke about how she expects that she will \u201cget in trouble\u201d for saying that she still sleeps next to her son \u2014 but quickly added she wasn\u2019t worried about the potential backlash, declaring:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI don\u2019t really care.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, there\u2019s nothing wrong with sleeping next to your child! For some families it\u2019s necessary and it can even offer a bit of comfort to the parents and children alike. It\u2019s not uncommon for families to share a bed for years. Every child is different and requires their own distinctive needs.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, some studies suggest that continuing to co-sleep for <em>too<\/em> long can cause problems with some key developmental milestones in early life. According to child psychologist <strong>Leonardo Rocker<\/strong>, continuing to sleep in the bed with your kid for extended periods of time can disrupt their development of \u201cnight time independence\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cChildren with night time independence are confident that they can fall asleep on their own, and know-how to comfort themselves if they are stressed or anxious around sleep \u2014 key steps in healthy emotional development.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, this sleep style can also be a problem for parents! Rocker states that it can cause parents to experience a lack of sleep, which in turn makes them more \u201cgrumpy\u201d along with their children. He also says it can have a \u201cdetrimental effect on a couple\u2019s intimacy\u201d. That does not seem to be a concern for Alicia \u2014 whose priority is 100% her son.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Khlo\u00e9 Still Thinks Tristan Will \u2018Do The Right Thing\u2019??<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Spilling more on the podcast about her other unconventional methods \u2014 which she swears work gangbusters \u2014 she discussed the \u201celimination communication\u201d she used when potty training Bear. She says she didn\u2019t need diapers because she learned to watch the physical \u201ccues\u201d he would give her when he needed the toilet. She explained:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThere was a period of time where I was watching him naked and watching the cues. The cues part for me was really fun because I thought that he was flirting with me because he would do this little smile. That\u2019s when he had to pee.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As odd as it sounds, she says it made everything a lot easier for her than for some parents:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt\u2019s so awesome. It\u2019s so easy. When I was done feeding him, he would go to the bathroom in the toilet. When he woke up from a nap, he went to the bathroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Silverstone shares her son with her ex-husband <strong>Christopher Jarecki<\/strong>. If you\u2019re wondering how he feels about all this, well, she admits he initially called the attachment parenting style \u201chippie s**t\u201d \u2014 Ha!
