Thomas is a former teacher and boys\u2019 basketball coach at\u00a0<strong>North Kingstown High School<\/strong>, where he worked from 1990 to 2021.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Honey Boo Boo\u2019s Much Older BF Was Once Arrested &amp; Charged With Statutory Rape!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<em>WPRI-TV<\/em>, former students at the school claimed Thomas would allegedly convince student-athletes to \u201cs<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a> down to their underwear\u201d in a closet in the boys\u2019 locker room. The disgraced coach <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>arently used the ruse that he was measuring the athletes\u2019 body fat percentages. Students told the outlet the man would ask them if they were \u201cshy or not shy\u201d as a way to convince them to strip.<\/p>\n<p>One unnamed former student spoke anonymously to the TV <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> outlet. In a heartbreaking statement, he recalled doing as told because of the pressure he felt and dreams he had about playing basketball for the well-known program:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI didn\u2019t want to be \u2018not shy\u2019 because my entire childhood I wanted to play varsity basketball for North Kingstown. A lot of my heroes were ex-players that played there, people I looked up to, especially [Thomas]. I really wanted him to like me, I wanted him to respect me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"highlight\">Ugh\u2026<\/p>\n<p>According to a release published on Thursday by the office of Rhode Island Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Peter Neronha<\/strong>, Thomas is being charged with second-degree child molestation. The release claims the now-former coach \u201cengaged in sexual contact with a victim under the age of 14 \u2026 by force or coercion \u2026 for the purpose of sexual arousal, gratification, or stimulation.\u201d Investigators assert the incidents took place between 2000 and 2002. Prosecutors say Thomas may have done the \u201cbody fat testing\u201d to athletes on the school\u2019s football and wrestling teams, too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Police Arrest Gang Members Tied To Multiple Terrifying Celebrity Home Invasions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Timothy Conlon<\/strong>, the attorney representing the two victims in the case, released a response to the charges. Speaking to\u00a0<em>People<\/em> on the matter, the attorney stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis will have an an impact on the school administration in North Kingstown, and I hope throughout the region.\u00a0We hope it will begin a culture change in the sports environment with kids and parents, and a change in culture with other teachers\/coaches, so they don\u2019t ignore warning signs or look the other way when they encounter concerning behavior, regardless of the status of the particular coach or educator involved.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, the North Kingstown School District is scrambling following the latest legal maneuver. Interim Superintendent\u00a0<strong>Michael Waterman<\/strong> stated to the mag that the district is \u201cready to assist\u201d authorities with their investigation in Thomas\u2019 alleged action.
