Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>arent reason.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Neighborhood resident Eileen King echoed Friend\u2019s sentiments.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cIn May we were promised and were given a patrol car that blocked Fort George Avenue \u00a0and another car on Amsterdam [Avenue] and 190th [Street] and that prevented the motorcycle rallies with souped-up cars going in circles for hours,\u201d she said, noting,  \u201cAt the June 30th [community] meeting we were promised that this would continue. \u00a0Not so!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClearly there is serious breakdown in public safety when 100 motorcycles can race up a hill and take over public streets and sidewalks. It is also clear that this is an organized activity facilitated by the Internet. The size of the invasion also paralyzes any\u00a0police response.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Fort George Area is very attractive to motorcycles, motorbikes, three-wheelers, and ATVs because the north\/south avenues are wide, and some border a wooded park, residents said. <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-nypost-small-post\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"231\" height=\"407\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/hog-wild-01.jpg?w=231\" alt=\"Eric Adams previously said he was dedicated to combatting the dirt bike issue.\" class=\"wp-image-23174373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/hog-wild-01.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=462 462w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/hog-wild-01.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=347 346w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/hog-wild-01.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=231 231w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/hog-wild-01.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=116 115w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/hog-wild-01.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 231px) 100vw, 231px\"\/><figcaption>Eric Adams previously said he was dedicated to combatting the dirt bike issue.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Police have told the community during meetings at the station house that cops are \u201cfrustrated, understaffed, that they must give priority to more serious problems and crimes,\u201d said residents, who noted police have said they won\u2019t risk endangering others by chasing the wild bikers.<\/p>\n<p>The NYPD said citywide seizures of the marauding vehicles have increased a whopping 92 percent this year, to 2,646 through July 18, compared to the same period in 2021 when 1,379 were taken.<\/p>\n<p>The NYPD insisted it\u2019s still \u201caggressively pursuing every method to rid our streets of illegal dirt bikes and ATVs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe strongly encourage residents to call 911 so that the groups can be tracked and the NYPD can alert adjoining precincts,\u201d the department said in a statement. \u201cIf an NYPD officer can safely stop any of the motorcyclists and they are driving illegally, the motorcycle will be confiscated and appropriate police action will be taken by officers at the scene. \u2026 The end result must ensure the safety of our citizens while ridding our streets of this menace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>City officials crushed nearly 100 dirt bikes last month, with Mayor Eric Adams saying he\u2019s determined to\u00a0eradicate the illegal vehicles\u00a0from local streets.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
