\n Disney has made history with its first bisexual lead character in a kids\u2019 show, according to reports.<\/p>\n

Luz Noceda, the 14-year-old lead in the Disney Channel\u2019s animated series<\/a> \u201cThe Owl House,\u201d has previously shown interest in boys \u2014 but has pursued a recurring female character, Amity, in the two most recent episodes, Variety reported.<\/p>\n

While Disney has shown LGBTQ characters before, it is the first of its kids\u2019 shows with a lead who is bisexual, the trade mag said of the show rated for children aged 7 and above.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m bi! I want to write a bi character, dammit!\u201d series creator Dana Terrace has tweeted, claiming that unidentified Disney higher-ups initially forbid her from \u201cany form of bi or gay relationship on the Channel.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLuckily my stubbornness paid off and now I am VERY supported by current Disney leadership,\u201d she said, also praising the \u201camazingness\u201d the show\u2019s crew for making \u201cbadass\u201d episodes.<\/p>\n

\u201cRepresentation matters!\u201d Terrace tweeted \u2014 telling followers to \u201cbe gay do witchcraft.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the show, Luz \u2014 voiced by Sarah-Nicole Robles \u2014 is a regular teenager who accidentally stumbles upon a portal to a magical new world where she befriends a rebellious witch, Eda, and an adorably tiny warrior, King.<\/p>\n

Her interest in Amity developed over the last two episodes, with the pair sharing a dance together after she asks her to \u201cgrom,\u201d their world\u2019s version of prom, according to Variety.<\/p>\n

GLAAD said it was \u201cexcited\u201d about the \u201cLGBTQ-inclusive storytelling\u201d which it said portrayed \u201can inclusive, fair, accurate, and age-app<\/a>ropriate world through the representation of its characters.\u201d<\/p>\n

Terrace said she had always been \u201cvery open about my intention to put queer kids in the main cast.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a horrible liar so sneaking it in would\u2019ve been hard haha,\u201d the creator tweeted.<\/p>\n

\u201cAndi Mack\u201d became the first show on Disney Channel to have a gay character, while the Pixar short film \u201cOut\u201d featured a gay main character in its Disney Plus launch, Variety noted.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
