\n Jets first-round pick Mekhi Becton is already impressing his coaches.<\/p>\n

Jets coach Adam Gase was asked Sunday if Becton looks confused at all as he starts his NFL career. The learning curve for rookies can be a steep one.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, not even close. It\u2019s funny, he looks like he\u2019s been doing this for a minute,\u201d Gase said. \u201cIt looks very natural for him. I\u2019m like you guys, anytime a rookie gets plugged into that starting offensive line, we all know it\u2019s a lot, and especially going against the defense, our defense every day you\u2019re getting a lot of different looks. He looks comfortable to me. And he\u2019s not making mistakes. I\u2019ve been extremely impressed by how he\u2019s operating as far as his knowledge of football, how he\u2019s retaining things, acquiring the information, recalling it, and then at the same time executing, playing fast. He\u2019s doing a really good job.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Jets are hoping Becton can be their starting left tackle for the next decade after drafting him No. 11 overall out of Louisville. At 6-foot-7 and 370 pounds, Becton is an imposing figure on the field. He is also showing he is a quick learner, too.<\/p>\n

WR Breshad Perriman had high praise for QB Sam Darnold after their first few practices together.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like Sam is great,\u201d Perriman said. \u201cHis throwing ability is crazy. I love the way he throws the ball. The touch he has on the ball is unreal. It\u2019s so receiver friendly. Just his personality and the way he\u2019s able to take control of the room and the offense and the team is just crazy. Him being reserved and laid back and still having that authority when it\u2019s time to go out there and let the bullets fly, he can take control of the room very easily. Him as a quarterback, man, it\u2019s a receiver\u2019s dream.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Jets signed Perriman as a free agent this offseason.<\/p>\n

The Jets will practice in pads for the first time Monday. They will wear shoulder pads and helmets before putting on the full pads later this week. \u2026 Second-round pick WR Denzel Mims (hamstring) missed his second straight practice. Gase said there is no timeline for Mims\u2019 return. WR Vyncint Smith missed Sunday\u2019s practice with a core muscle injury that will require a trip<\/a> to a specialist. Rookie OT Cameron Clark suffered a shoulder injury in Friday\u2019s practice and is \u201cweek-to-week\u201d Gase said. Others missing practice Sunday were: CB Pierre Desir (hamstring), rookie DL Jabari Zuniga (quad), CB Brian Poole (dehydration) and DL Bronson Kaufusi (hamstring).\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
