They say the site that\u2019s typically known for speedy service is excessively slow to respond to their concerns about fakes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Pages unreadable\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Martin Kleppmann, a computer <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a> researcher and academic, has seen one-star Amazon reviews of his data modeling textbook roll in for years, with angry customers complaining about unreadable text, missing pages and other quality issues. The two counterfeits had see-through paper and other defects.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI see lots of negative reviews complaining about print quality,\u201d Kleppmann told The Post, adding that his publisher has asked Amazon to fix the issue but the company hasn\u2019t done anything.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Amazon spokesperson Julia Lee said in a statement to The Post, \u201cWe prioritize customer and author trust and continuously monitor and have measures in place to prevent prohibited products from being listed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amazon spent more than $900 million globally and employed more than 12,000 people to protect customers from counterfeit, fraud and other forms of abuse, Lee said. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/amazon-10-2.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Amazon\" class=\"wp-image-23255956\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/amazon-10-2.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/amazon-10-2.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/amazon-10-2.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>One Amazon reviewer said they had to buy Kleppmann\u2019s book three times to find a non-counterfeit copy. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But Kleppmann isn\u2019t the only author who\u2019s struggled with counterfeits on Amazon. Google deep learning researcher Francois Chollet complained about counterfeiters in a popular <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> thread earlier in July, accusing Amazon of doing \u201cnothing\u201d to crack down on widespread counterfeit versions of his textbook.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone who has bought my book from Amazon in the past few months hasn\u2019t bought a genuine copy, but a lower-quality counterfeit copy printed by various fraudulent sellers,\u201d Chollet wrote. \u201cWe\u2019ve notified [Amazon] multiple times, nothing happened.
