There are plenty of annoying features right out of the box that most people won\u2019t like on a new Windows 11 PC, although thankfully, <em>Candy Crush<\/em> isn\u2019t one of them.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Turn_Off_the_Sticky_Keys_Popup\"><\/span>Turn Off the Sticky Keys Popup<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This helpful message about Sticky Keys has beleaguered Windows users for decades. You\u2019ve seen it, your grandmother has seen it, and the extraterrestrials clandestinely profiling human behavior have even seen it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-814838\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Sticky-Keys-Popup.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"The Sticky Keys Popup\" width=\"650\" height=\"281\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The criticism isn\u2019t to say Sticky Keys don\u2019t have their place \u2014 they definitely do. Enabling Sticky Keys changes how the Control, Shift, Alt, and Windows keys function. Instead of being a push button that is active only while depressed, they function more like toggle switches that remain on until specifically switched off. For some people, that is an invaluable quality of life feature that makes it significantly easier to access hotkeys.<\/p>\n<p>The problem with the Sticky Keys popup is how easy it is to accidentally trigger. Luckily, you can disable the popup completely in the Accessibility Options. Click the Start button, type \u201csticky keys\u201d into the search bar, and then click \u201cSticky Keys\u201d or \u201cOpen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You can also open the Settings <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a> and navigate to Accessibility &gt; Keyboard &gt; Sticky Keys to find these options.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-814855\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/type-sticky-keys-into-the-start-menu-search-bar-then-click-the-result-open-or-hit-Enter.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"317\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Click the toggle next to \u201cKeyboard Shortcut for Sticky Keys\u201d to the \u201cOff\u201d position.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-814856\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/click-the-toggle-and-set-it-to-off.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"375\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s it \u2014 the Sticky Keys popup won\u2019t appear anymore, no matter how much you bang on your Shift key.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Disable_Extra_Telemetry\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_1\">Disable Extra Telemetry<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You can\u2019t opt out of all data telemetry on Windows 11 short of completely disconnecting your Windows PC from the Internet. You can limit it pretty significantly in the Settings app. Click on the Start Button, type \u201cDiagnostics and feedback\u201d into the search bar, then click \u201cOpen.\u201d It is also accessible through the Settings app, in Privacy and Security &gt; Diagnostics and Feedback.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-814907\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/diagnostics-and-feedback.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"259\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>There are quite a few separate options for limiting different types of diagnostic data here.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-814916 size-full\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/diagnostic-options-e1658520884467.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"The options available in &quot;Diagnostics and Feedback.&quot;\" width=\"592\" height=\"500\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll need to go through and disable them individually. Does anyone want that, though? Do the searches you run for local files and programs really need to be sent to the Bing search engine?<\/p>\n<p>A few minutes of modifying the registry can <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/224159\/how-to-disable-bing-in-the-windows-10-start-menu\/\">disable Bing in the Start Menu forever. The Start button was moved to the bottom center of the screen instead of being positioned on the bottom left. People that are accustomed to macOS or some Linux distributions (with the\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/808226\/what-is-gnome-in-linux\/\">GNOME desktop environment) might like the new taskbar featured in Windows 11, but longtime Windows users will probably be less keen on it \u2014 the Start button has resided in the bottom left-hand corner for nearly 27 years.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-814874\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/desktop-screenshot-start-button-middle.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"The Start Button is in the middle of the screen by default in Windows 11.\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Microsoft changed or removed a number of features that were present in Windows 11. Fortunately for everyone, the ability to move the Start button back to its historical home is not one of them. It trades the classic copy, cut, paste, and rename text options for icons instead. The icons at the top are reminiscent of the sort of thing you\u2019d encounter in a user interface designed for touch devices, like a cellphone or tablet, rather than a mouse and keyboard.
