This functionality detects vehicles in the blind spot while driving and notifies the driver of their presence. Power, the National Safety Council, Partners for Automated Vehicle Education (PAVE), and SAE International. It also calls for vital consumer education on ADAS\u2019s benefits, limitations, and capabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Confusion_around_ADAS_leads_to_buyer_confusion_and_risky_behavior\"><\/span><strong>Confusion around ADAS leads to buyer confusion and risky behavior<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pavecampaign.org\/\">PAVE<\/a>, misrepresenting or overstating the capabilities of vehicle safety features in marketing means that consumers may over-rely on these systems. Even journalists get it wrong.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, Tesla calls its driver-assist program \u201cFull Self-Driving beta.\u201d However, its system is ADAS, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">not <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">autonomous.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I believe that the vast majority of the 100,000 people who pay for Tesla\u2019s\u201cFull Self-Driving beta\u201d are responsible people. They use the tech to augment their driving. They look forward to testing the added capabilities or improvements in each beta release.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But we\u2019ve seen <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">plenty of bad examples<\/span>. These include <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">people <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/tesla-fsd-back-seat-driving-stunt-arrested-buys-new-car-2021-5?op=1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">driving in the back<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/of-course-someone-shot-a-porn-video-in-a-tesla-driving-1834638212\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">making porn movies<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sleepline.com\/tesla-drivers-sleeping\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sleeping<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in their Teslas. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company faces yet another probe into its ADAS <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/autos\/news\/tesla-driver-using-autopilot-kills-motorcyclist-prompting-another-nhtsa-investigation\/ar-AA101YTF\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">following the death of a motorcyclist last week<\/span><\/a>. So <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it would be a good time for the brand to get on board with universal terminology. But it remains bullish.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Further, with the rise of subscriptions or additional payments for extra features, it\u2019s essential that functions such as Lane Centering Assistance and Indirect Driver Monitoring System are understood across the board. Not only by buyers but also by automakers, regulators, safety organizations, journalists, and other stakeholders.
