\n A man was shot during what appeared to be an attempted robbery on the increasingly dangerous Upper West Side early Monday, cops said.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old victim was blasted in the groin on Amsterdam Avenue near West 94th Street around 4:30 a.m., according to police.<\/p>\n

He was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

Cops are investigating the possibility that the shooter had tried to rob him, according to police.<\/p>\n

The well-heeled neighborhood has seen a steep decline in quality of life during the coronavirus pandemic, and an uptick in street crime. Recovering addicts and registered sex-offenders have been quietly shifted to area hotels amid fears that shelters couldn\u2019t provide enough social<\/a> distancing during the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

The shooting occurred amid a recent uptick in gun violence citywide.<\/p>\n
