Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav offered up a reason for that during the company\u2019s earnings call.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not going to put a movie out unless we believe in it. That\u2019s it,\u201d said Zaslav. \u201cThe objective is to grow the DC brand, to grow the DC characters, but also our job is to protect the DC brand, and that\u2019s what we\u2019re going to do.\u201d <em>The Flash<\/em> movie is still on track to be released, and Zaslav also shared that there\u2019s a 10-year-plan for DC that would be similar to what Marvel has.<\/p>\n<p>After looking over the data, according to Zaslav, \u201cour conclusion is that with expensive direct-to-streaming <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> \u2014 in terms of how people are consuming them on the platform, how often people buy a service for it, and how it gets nourished over time \u2014 there is no comparison to what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ens when you launch a film in the theaters. This idea of expensive films going to streaming, we cannot find an economic case for it. And so we\u2019re making a strategic shift.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> that <em>Batgirl<\/em> would not be released \u2014 despite being in post-production \u2014 came on August 2. Leslie Grace, who played Barbara Gordon\/Batgirl, posted a statement on Instagram following the announcement. \u201cI am proud of the love, hard work and intention all of our incredible cast and tireless crew put into this film over 7 months in Scotland,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI feel blessed to have worked among absolute greats and forged relationships for a lifetime in the process! To every Batgirl fan \u2014 THANK YOU for the love and belief, allowing me to take on the cape and become, as Babs said best, \u2018my own damn hero!&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was during the earnings call that it was also announced that, following the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, HBO Max and Discovery+ will merge into one streaming platform by 2023. This comes after HBO Max has already removed six of its original films from its library: <em>Moonshot<\/em> starring Cole Sprouse and Lana Condor, <em>Superintelligence<\/em> featuring Melissa McCarthy, 2020\u2019s <em>The Witches<\/em> with Anne Hathaway and Octavia Spencer, <em>American Pickle<\/em> starring Seth Rogen, <em>Locked Down<\/em> with Chiwetel Ejiofor, and <em>Charm City Kings<\/em>. Also shelved: LeBron James and Maverick Carter\u2019s <em>House Party<\/em> reboot as well as <em>Scoob!: Holiday Haunt<\/em>, which, like <em>Batgirl<\/em>, had also been near completion.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
