\n Five people were shot early Monday in two incidents across the city \u2014 continuing the recent shooting surge that has gripped the city.<\/p>\n

A 29-year-old man was blasted in the groin during what app<\/a>eared to be an attempted robbery on Amsterdam Avenue near West 94th Street on the Upper West Side around 4:30 a.m., according to police.<\/p>\n

He was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

About two hours earlier, four men were shot outside Kings Studio, an event venue on Atlantic Avenue near Williams Avenue in Cypress Hills, cops said.<\/p>\n

Two men, 33 and 23, were both shot in the right leg and taken to local hospitals.<\/p>\n

Two other men, 20 and 22, were taken to Interfaith Medical Center by private means for gunshot wounds to their left legs.<\/p>\n

They had been attending a party inside the venue, police sources said.<\/p>\n

The city endured a bloody weekend, preliminary data released by the NYPD shows.<\/p>\n

Eight shootings with eight victims, one of whom was killed, were reported Sunday. On that day in 2019, there were four incidents with four victims, three of whom were killed.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, 23 shootings with 20 victims \u2014 five of whom were killed \u2014 rattled the city. On that day last year, there were two people shot, one fatally, in two separate incidents.<\/p>\n

And on Friday, there were a dozen shooting incidents with 20 victims. Last year, two shootings with two victims occurred on that day.<\/p>\n
