Unfortunately, it also removed the ability to use third-party screensaver <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>s. Screensaver Preferences no longer acknowledges third-party options and only lets you use Google\u2019s screensavers.<\/p>\n<p>Customers noticed this change shortly after the\u00a0update (version QTS1.220504.008) rolled out in July. Affected users warn <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Chromecast\/comments\/whspqm\/google_killed_3rd_party_screensavers_on_ccwgtv\/\">not to touch your screensaver preferences<\/a>, otherwise you may lose whatever third-party screensaver app you\u2019re currently using. (That said, some users report that their screensaver automatically switched to Google\u2019s \u201cambient mode.\u201d)<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Hey, good catch. It seems Google removed the screensaver from CCwGTV, replacing it with their proprietary &#8220;ambient mode&#8221; \u2013 at least I can&#8217;t find it on mine.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn&#8217;t look like there&#8217;s much to be done, unfortunately.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Daniel Cachapa (@cachapa) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cachapa\/status\/1551828848047710208?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 26, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This change could be related to Google\u2019s new <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/madebygoogle\/status\/1535336604264439809\">\u201cproactive\u201d screensaver<\/a>, which gives you updates on the weather, sports scores, and more when your TV is idling. While many users would prefer something a bit more modest, the \u201cproactive\u201d screensaver is a stand-out Chromecast feature and could keep users\u2019 attention directed toward their TV.<\/p>\n<p>Still, some users speculate that Google removed third-party screensavers to push its \u201cambient mode,\u201d which <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.googlenestcommunity.com\/t5\/Chromecast\/Ads-are-appearing-in-Ambient-mode\/m-p\/179721\">now contains ads<\/a>. But regardless of Google\u2019s reasoning, pulling a popular feature from Chromecast with Google TV seems shortsighted. People enjoy customization, and third-party screensavers made for an easy and non-intrusive way to personalize the Chromecast.<\/p>\n<p>For what it\u2019s worth, Google may have unintentionally blocked third-party screensaver apps on Chromecast. But I doubt that this is the case.
