Chuck Schumer\u2019s bill has yet to be scored in its entirety by the Congressional Budget Office.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">MICHAEL REYNOLDS\/EPA-EFE\/Shutter<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While the CBO is still crunching the numbers on the $740 billion energy and health care spending bill, they have made one thing clear: The legislation <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/system\/files\/2022-08\/58357-Graham.pdf\">will have a \u201cnegligible\u201d effect on inflation<\/a> \u2014 the very problem it supposedly tackles \u2014 in at least 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe real damage here is through this incredibly haphazard legislation: Passing massive bills without the usual quality control process, without committee hearings, without any of the things that really create quality legislation that can last a long time,\u201d Lucier added.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/08\/reduction-act-12.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Bernie Sanders\" class=\"wp-image-23378345\" width=\"626\" height=\"416\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/08\/reduction-act-12.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1248 1252w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/08\/reduction-act-12.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=936 939w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/08\/reduction-act-12.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=624 626w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/08\/reduction-act-12.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=312 313w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/08\/reduction-act-12.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 626px) 100vw, 626px\"\/><figcaption>Bernie Sanders has slammed the \u201cso-called\u201d Inflation Reduction Act saying it will have \u201ca minimal impact on inflation.\u201d<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Los Angeles Times via Getty Imag<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While Americans wait to see just how badly the bill \u2014 which the House is expected to pass and send to President Biden sometime Friday \u2014 will beat up their wallets, Americans for Tax Reform has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atr.org\/list-of-tax-hikes-in-democrat-reconciliation-bill\/\">compiled a list<\/a> of the biggest costs to families based on a combination of data from the CBO and Congress\u2019 Joint Committee on Taxation.<\/p>\n<p>They include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <strong>$6.5 billion <\/strong>regressive tax on American energy companies that will be passed on to families in the form of higher energy costs \u2014 and could hike the average household\u2019s <strong>natural gas bill by 17<\/strong>%. <\/li>\n<li> A <strong>16.4 cent-per-barrel tax<\/strong> on imported crude oil and petroleum products that will be passed on to families looking to fill up their car with gasoline \u2014 amounting to a <strong>$12 billion tax <\/strong>on purchasers of oil or gas products.<\/li>\n<li>An increased <strong>tax rate on mined coal, which is supposed to bring in an extra<\/strong> <strong>$1.2 billion<\/strong>, and will also raise the cost of families\u2019 energy bills. The levy on subsurface-mined coal will jump from 50 cents per ton to $1.10 per ton. Surface-mined coal will be taxed at 55 cents per ton instead of 25 cents per ton.<\/li>\n<li>A new <strong>15% tax on corporations reporting at least $1 billion in profits<\/strong> to shareholders, known as \u201cbook value.\u201d Democrats say it will raise an estimated <strong>$313 billion,<\/strong> but critics say the tax will also be passed on to Americans in the form of higher prices, less hiring, and wage cuts.<\/li>\n<li>The<strong> $124 billion stock buyback tax<\/strong>, which will likely mean<strong> 401(k)s, IRAs and pensions shrink for most Americans <\/strong>\u2014 given retirement accounts make up nearly 37% of the $22.8 trillion stock market.<\/li>\n<li><strong>$80 billion<\/strong> thrown at the IRS to help the agency collect under-reported income is supposed to return <strong>$124 billion<\/strong> to the federal government, but will\u00a0end up targeting small business owners. Between 78% and 90% of the estimated additional $200 billion the IRS will collect will come from Americans making less than $200,000 annually, according to the Joint Committee on Taxation.<\/li>\n<li>A 95% <strong>excise tax on drugmakers<\/strong> that could cost <strong>more than $1 trillion <\/strong>over the next decade by decreasing the development and introduction of new drugs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>$52 billion <\/strong>that will be raised as part of a tax increase on businesses not subject to the corporate income tax, which will hurt<strong> mid-sized and family companies<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Even though legislation can be thrown together quickly, the reverberations of these tax hikes are expected to be felt for a while, with Watson even predicting full implementation of the law would take \u201ca couple of years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor instance this minimum book tax will require a lot of regulation to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ly it to corporations that have question about every nook and cranny of the law,\u201d Watson said. \u201cThis is far from over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t afford to go through a process like this again,\u201d Lucier added. \u201cA mess like this damages the reputation of Congress as a legislative body.
