We just had to layoff a few of our employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wallake then wrote that the dismissals were \u201cmy fault\u201d because of a decision that he made in February. He admitted that he \u201cstuck with that decision for far too long.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, I know my team will say that \u2018we made that decision together,\u2019 but I lead us into it,\u201d he wrote. \u201cAnd because of those failings, I had to do today, the toughest thing I\u2019ve ever had to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve always been a people first business. And we always will be,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDays like today, I wish I was a business owner that was only money driven and didn\u2019t care about who he hurt along the way,\u201d Wallake wrote. \u201cBut I\u2019m not. The Post has reached out to Wallake seeking comment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ones you don\u2019t see talked about,\u201d he continued. \u201cBecause they didn\u2019t lay off 50 or 500 or 5000 employees. They laid off 1 or 2 or 3. 1 or 2 or 3 that would still be here if better decisions had been made.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Wallake continued: \u201cI know it isn\u2019t professional to tell my employees that I love them. But from the bottom of my heart, I hope they know how much I do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery single one. Every single story. Every single thing that makes them smile and every single thing that makes them cry,\u201d he wrote. \u201cTheir families. Their friends. Their hobbies. I\u2019ve always hired people based on who they are as people.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople with great hearts, and great souls. Perhaps you think all publicity is good publicity. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor goodness sake show some humility or some dignity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another critic wrote: \u201cI am sorry, your post causes bad feelings at me. This is more about YOUR feelings and not about the feelings of the people you had to lay off. He defended his decision to post the thread and pushed back on suggestions that he publicly name the fired employees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHey everyone, yes, I am the crying CEO,\u201d he wrote. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, my intent was not to make it about me or victimize myself. I am sorry it came across that way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wallake continued: \u201cIt was not my place to out the employees\u2019 names publicly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I want to do now, is try to make better of this situation and start a thread for people looking for work,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The move was a far cry from last year\u2019s widely publicized incident in which the chief executive of Better.com callously announced that he would be laying off hundreds of workers during a three-minute Zoom call.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
