Think of it as the Windows beta program. For example, testers can use the program to use Windows 11 22H2 before its official, stable release.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Read_These_Warnings_First\"><\/span>Read These Warnings First<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you have a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC, you can opt into the Windows Insider program to get preview builds. This isn\u2019t permanent \u2014 you\u2019re free to opt-out whenever you like. This is intended for people who don\u2019t mind experiencing\u00a0and reporting bugs.<\/p>\n<p>As with any form of beta software, you\u2019re opting in to receive new software\u00a0before everyone else. This software\u00a0will likely be buggy and incomplete, so be aware of what you\u2019re signing up for. Microsoft doesn\u2019t recommend using this software on your main PC \u2014 it\u2019s ideal for PCs you just want to experiment or test things with.<\/p>\n<p>As Microsoft warns you when you enable this feature, you will probably have to perform a clean install of Windows if you want to stop getting preview builds and revert to the stable Windows 10 or Windows 11 build in the future.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_note\"><p><strong>Note:<\/strong> The Settings <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a> got a major overhaul in Windows 11 and looks fairly different from the Windows 10 Settings app. If some of the screenshots look a little different from what you see, don\u2019t worry too much about it \u2014 the fundamentals are the same.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Join_the_Windows_Insider_Program\"><\/span>How to Join the Windows Insider Program<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Being part of the insider program requires you sign in to your PC with a Microsoft account, not a local user account. That Microsoft account must also be part of the Windows Insider program.<\/p>\n<p>First, ensure you\u2019re signing into your PC with a Microsoft account. If you\u2019re not, you can visit Settings &gt; Accounts &gt; Your Info and use the option here to convert your local user account to a Microsoft account.<\/p>\n<p>Visit the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/insider.windows.com\/\">Windows Insider Program<\/a>\u00a0web page in your web browser and sign in with your Microsoft account. Click \u201cRegister\u201d to join the program from the web page \u2014 yes, it\u2019s free. This registers your Microsoft account as being part of the Insider program, allowing you to receive insider builds \u2014 should you choose to enable them on a PC.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_note\"><p><strong>Note:<\/strong> You\u2019ll need to click through a few pages of terms and conditions before you\u2019re actually enrolled.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Once that\u2019s done, you can open the\u00a0Settings app on a Windows 10 PC you\u2019ve logged into with your Microsoft account, head to Update &amp; Security &gt; Windows Insider Program. On Windows 11 PCs, open up the Settings app, then navigate to Windows Update &gt; Windows Insider Program.<\/p>\n<p>Click or tap \u201cGet Started\u201d to begin. You will be asked to sign in with a Microsoft account that has joined the program on the web.<\/p>\n<p>If there\u2019s something preventing you from joining the Insider program, you will be informed of the issue.\u00a0The Settings app will help you change any necessary settings. Microsoft provides descriptions of them. The Dev channel is the most unstable one, the Beta channel has received more testing, and the Release Preview channel will get updates shortly before they become stable.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re not sure which one you want, start with the Release Preview channel. It is the best for day-to-day use, and you can always opt into the Beta or Dev channels later.<\/p>\n<p>As of August, 2022, the Dev channel has the latest experimental features for Windows 11 (most notably a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a> Pass widget), the beta channel has more rigorously tested Windows 11 builds and features, and the Release Preview channel has a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.windows.com\/windows-insider\/2022\/07\/28\/releasing-windows-10-version-22h2-to-the-release-preview-channel\/\">new build for Windows 10 22H2<\/a>, and a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.windows.com\/windows-insider\/2022\/07\/14\/releasing-windows-11-build-22000-829-to-the-release-preview-channel\/\">new build for Windows 11<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-823668\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/choose-insider-channel.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Select the Insider Channel you'd like to use. \" width=\"650\" height=\"443\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve chosen a channel, your PC will get updates for that channel via Windows Update.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Stop_Getting_Insider_Builds\"><\/span>Stop Getting Insider Builds<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To stop getting Insider builds, just head back to the Settings &gt; Update &amp; Security &gt; Windows Insider Program page. Windows will only install\u00a0insider builds on PCs you\u2019ve specifically activated them on, not every PC you log into with that account.<\/p>\n<p>In some cases, you may have to completely reinstall Windows 10 or Windows 11 on your PC after leaving Insider builds. In others, you may be able to roll back to the latest stable version of Windows. The Settings app will give you a variety of options to choose from.
