\n The German rapist who is now the prime suspect in the disappearance of missing British girl Madeleine McCann may have been tipped off by a hotel worker that she would be alone, according to reports.<\/p>\n

Madeleine\u2019s mother, Kate, has previously admitted that her family requested a dinner table close to their hotel room in Portugal because their 3-year-old daughter would be alone in their room, Sky News<\/a> said.<\/p>\n

Police now believe a hotel worker passed on the info to the jailed rapist and suspected abductor, named in reports as Christian B, the UK network said, citing the Correio de Manha newspaper in Portugal.<\/p>\n

An employee of the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz has been identified by the police, according to the newspaper. The employee was also found to have Christian B\u2019s phone number in his contacts, the report says.<\/p>\n

Anthony Summers, a co-author of the book \u201cLooking For Madeleine,\u201d told Sky News it was a \u201cpotentially very important\u201d lead in the 2007 disappearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cDid he learn from somebody who was complicit, not necessarily at all in abducting or murdering Madeleine, but perhaps in how to take advantage of people being away to rob an apartment?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWas there an accomplice in that respect on the staff of the Ocean Club?\u201d<\/p>\n

Authorities have only referred to the suspect as Christian B, but he has been widely identified as Christian Br\u00fcckner, who is serving seven years for raping an American tourist.<\/p>\n

Prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters told Sky that he is certain the child is dead \u2014 but does not yet have enough evidence for charges despite \u201csome evidence that the suspect has done the deed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe got things we cannot communicate that speak for the theory that Madeleine is dead, even if I have to admit that we don\u2019t have the body,\u201d he told the station.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expect that she is dead, but we don\u2019t have enough evidence that we can get a warrant for our suspect in Germany for the murder of Madeleine McCann.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the moment we also don\u2019t have enough proof for a trial at court, but we have some evidence that the suspect has done the deed,\u201d he said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
