Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eared to be bulking up for their next political battle as both issued conflicting statements Monday regarding the reopening of the city\u2019s gyms.<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo said fitness centers across the state can be back in business \u201cas soon as\u201d next Monday, subject to coronavirus-related restrictions and inspections by local governments.<\/p>\n<p>He also said de Blasio could postpone reopenings in the Big Apple, but only until Sept. 2.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre gyms any tougher than, you know, bowling alleys or restaurants?\u201d Cuomo said, citing two other businesses he\u2019s allowed to reopen with restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t really think so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But City Hall said residents who packed on pandemic pounds will have to wait before they start hitting the gym again, because city health inspectors already have their hands full.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no higher priority than making sure our schools and child care centers are safe for learning in the fall, and the City\u2019s dedicated team of inspectors will continue prioritizing that work,\u201d de Blasio spokesman Mitch Schwartz said in an email.<\/p>\n<p>Schwartz declined to set a timetable for when gyms would be back in business but noted that the city had already opted out of allowing indoor fitness classes and reopening indoor pools \u201cat this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll be developing a fair and rigorous inspection system for other gym setups in the coming weeks,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>State Sen. Diane Savino (D-Staten Island, Brooklyn) expressed outrage over the situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt what point do the businesses just say they\u2019re gonna hang up the towel?\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re getting conflicting information from the city and the state. That\u2019s what\u2019s driving businesses crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Savino also questioned how gyms would comply with some of the restrictions imposed on them \u2014 including limiting attendance to one-third of official capacity \u2014 and accused Cuomo of \u201clooking it at as a way to raise revenue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGive them clear-cut guidelines and don\u2019t lay in wait hoping they violate them. They need clear consistent guidelines and don\u2019t just sit back and say, \u2018I hope they f\u2013k it up.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the Crunch Fitness chain, which has 26 locations in the city, said the company \u201cprepared to open, per the Governor\u2019s guidelines, by August 24, and no later than September 2.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are disappointed to hear that the Mayor may not be aligned with the Governor,\u201d the spokesperson said by email.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis five-month period has been devastating to our furloughed team members, franchise partners and our company.\u00a0 We have prepared for months to create a safe environment for our teams and members.\u00a0 In fact, we invite the Mayor\u2019s Office to meet us in any Crunch gym in the City, where we can share our plans for a safe opening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for CrossFit, Inc., which has 40 affiliates operating in the city, said, \u201cExercise is vital to public health, and we hope that Mayor de Blasio will keep both NYC residents and its small businesses healthy by allowing gyms to open under appropriate safety guidelines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Independent gym owner David Plasse \u2014 who filed suit in Brooklyn federal court to re-open his Plasse Strength and Fitness business in Flushing, Queens \u2014 said he\u2019d been \u201ctold we\u2019d get the green light\u201d from the state and complained that City Hall had \u201cout a wrench in my plans now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Plasse said he\u2019d been generating business by \u201cdoing outdoor personal training\u201d but noted that \u201cmy equipment is getting pretty destroyed\u201d by the elements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd it sucks training outdoors. It\u2019s hot and I haven\u2019t even been able to do my own workout because I\u2019ve been so exhausted from working outside in the heat,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Rigie, executive director of the NYC Hospitality Alliance, said Cuomo\u2019s announcement \u201ccreated a lot of frustration among restaurateurs today because it\u2019s been more than a month and not only are we not open \u2014 even though we\u2019ve met, sustained and exceeded the health metrics allowing restaurants to open around the state \u2014 we don\u2019t even have a plan to allow us to plan how we will be able to reopen indoors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince they announced the gym reopening I\u2019ve heard from countless restaurants and bars asking: do we have to sue to have our voice heard?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s starting to not make sense here.
