\n Standing at an actual crossroads, Republican former Gov. John Kasich of Ohio on Monday endorsed Democrat Joe Biden at the Democratic National Convention, saying he is \u201crespectful\u201d and won\u2019t \u201cturn sharp Left.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kasich, who lost to President Trump in the 2016 GOP primary, said in a recorded message that \u201cwe\u2019re being taken down the wrong road by a president who is pitted one against the other. He\u2019s unlike all of our best leaders before him who work to unite us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMany of us can imagine four more years going down this path,\u201d said Kasich, who left office last year. He sought to shield Biden, 77, from Trump\u2019s attack that he\u2019s in mental declined and likely to be \u201ca puppet\u201d of more left-wing advisers.<\/p>\n

Kasich, who posed for his speech before an unsubtle split roadway, touted Biden\u2019s \u201cwisdom and his decency.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure there are Republicans and independents who couldn\u2019t imagine crossing over to support a Democrat. They fear Joe may turn sharp left and leave them behind. I don\u2019t believe that.,\u201d Kasich said, adding: \u201cHe\u2019s reasonable, faithful, respectful, and you know, no one pushes Joe around.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the 2016 primaries, Trump memorably mocked his competition. He singled out Kasich for his \u201cdisgusting\u201d habit of eating large mouthfuls of food on camera.<\/p>\n

Another former Republican governor, Christine Todd Whitman of New Jersey, also endorsed Biden on the first night of the DNC, as did former eBay CEO Meg Whitman, who was a close adviser to Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah).<\/p>\n

Former Staten Island Republican Rep. Susan Molinari said in a video that \u201cI\u2019ve known Donald Trump for most of my political career \u2014 so disapp<\/a>ointing and lately so disturbing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Molinari added: \u201cI\u2019ve also gotten to know and work with Joe Biden on issues related to women that are so important to all of us\u2026 He\u2019s a really good man. And he\u2019s exactly what this nation needs at this time.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
