Mixed Reality<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The cameras on the outside of the Quest headset were originally meant for nothing more than environmental tracking, but now they can be used for Mixed Reality (MR) <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lications as well. Depending on the app, this means that you can bring real-world objects into VR. The Quest itself allows you to see your <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/uploadvr.com\/oculus-quest-couch-guardian\/\">real-world couch in VR<\/a>, and pair and track a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/store.facebook.com\/help\/quest\/articles\/headsets-and-accessories\/meta-quest-accessories\/Tracked%20Keyboards%20for%20Meta%20Quest%202\/\">limited number of keyboard models<\/a>. This is good for portability but not great when you quickly need to leave VR to deal with something in the real world.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily you can quickly switch to \u201cPassthrough\u201d mode while using your Quest by double-tapping the side of the headset. This will show you the world through the exterior cameras. It\u2019s a little weird, but it\u2019s the easiest way to switch between VR and the real world. The double-tap feature isn\u2019t on by default, so you\u2019ll have to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/store.facebook.com\/help\/quest\/articles\/in-vr-experiences\/oculus-features\/what-is-passthrough\/\">enable it first<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Hand_Tracking\"><\/span>3. After you\u2019ve <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/store.facebook.com\/help\/quest\/articles\/headsets-and-accessories\/controllers-and-hand-tracking\/hand-tracking-quest-2\/\">enabled hand-tracking<\/a>\u00a0you\u2019ll find that many non-gaming apps, such as web browsers, or streaming video are much more comfortable to use if you don\u2019t have to fumble for a controller all the time. There are also a few brilliant games built around this feature, offering an entirely different kind of VR immersion.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_PC_VR\"><\/span>4. PC VR!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-820559\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alyx.jpg?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Half Life Alyx Official image\" width=\"650\" height=\"365\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The best thing about the Quest is that you don\u2019t have to spend thousands of dollars on a powerful gaming PC to use it. It\u2019s a self-contained system with its own software. However, if you happen to own a powerful PC or get one later, you can connect your Quest to it for the full PC-VR experience.<\/p>\n<p>The feature is known as Link,\u00a0and using it is as easy as installing the Quest software on your computer and then connecting the Quest using a USB-C cable or wirelessly over Wi-Fi.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_High_Refresh_Rates_for_Quest_2\"><\/span>5. High Refresh Rates (for Quest 2)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A fast refresh rate can make a big difference to the VR experience, but by default, the Quest 2 is locked to 90Hz. This is enough for a great sense of immersion, but the actual display panel in the headset can go faster. You can enable 120Hz mode under the Quest\u2019s Experimental Features section under Settings.<\/p>\n<p>This will impact battery life, but there are a few <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/uploadvr.com\/every-game-120hz-quest-2\/\">Quest games<\/a> that take advantage of this refresh rate. If you\u2019re using your Quest for PC VR with a USB-C cable, battery life concerns obviously don\u2019t apply.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6_Keyboard_and_Controller_Support\"><\/span>6. For example, you can use a controller with Tetris Effect or Virtual Desktop. Just follow the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/store.facebook.com\/help\/quest\/articles\/headsets-and-accessories\/controllers-and-hand-tracking\/gamepad-with-oculus-quest-2\/\">steps to pair a gamepad<\/a>,\u00a0and you\u2019re set.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7_Fitness_Tracking\"><\/span>7. So it makes sense that Meta added a feature called <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oculus.com\/blog\/oculus-move-updates-track-your-vr-fitness-stats-and-goals-outside-your-headset\/\">Oculus Move<\/a> to track how much exercise you\u2019re getting while in VR. Best of all, if you use an iPhone or Apple Watch to track your fitness, you can sync your Quest data directly to Apple Health. Quest Move can be found in your VR app library.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"8_Voice_Commands\"><\/span>8. Voice Commands<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Navigating VR in a Quest is pretty intuitive, but why use your hands when you can just say what you want to happen? Like a smartphone, Quest has voice commands you can activate by turning the option on in the Settings menu\u00a0or your Quick Settings panel. From there, you can say \u201cHey <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a>\u2019 or double-press the right controller Quest button and then use a command from an <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/store.facebook.com\/help\/quest\/articles\/in-vr-experiences\/oculus-features\/what-can-I-say-with-voice-commands\/\">extensive list<\/a>\u00a0for social media, apps, taking captures, controlling the device, and even FAQs.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"9_Mobile_Mixed_Reality_Capture\"><\/span>9. Mobile Mixed Reality Capture<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s cool to cast your VR viewpoint to the Meta app so that others can see what you\u2019re seeing, but what\u2019s even cooler is projecting yourself into VR and then capturing that on video. If you have a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/store.facebook.com\/help\/quest\/articles\/in-vr-experiences\/oculus-features\/mobile-mixed-reality-camera\/\">supported iPhone model and VR game<\/a>, you can stream or record videos of yourself in VR, although you will need the help of a friend to do the camera work!<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"10_Casting_to_a_TV\"><\/span>10.
