Enter <i>The Calling<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Loosely based on <i>The Missing File <\/i>from<i> <\/i>Israeli author Dror Mishani, the drama (once titled <i>The Missing<\/i>) looks at spiritual, introspective, compassionate, uniquely named NYPD detective Avraham Avraham (Jeff Wilbusch, <i>Unorthodox<\/i>), a special investigator in Brooklyn\u2019s diverse Crown Heights neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAvi is a very complex character,\u201d the Israeli-born Wilbusch says. His calling is solving missing persons and homicide cases through uncanny observational abilities. He\u2019s also devoted to his work family: eager rookie detective Janine Harris (Juliana Canfield, <i>Succession<\/i>), acerbic veteran cop Earl Malzone (Michael Mosley, <i>Ozark<\/i>) and supportive boss Capt. Helen Davies (Karen Robinson, <i>Schitt\u2019s Creek<\/i>).<\/p>\n<p>While Wilbusch says the series retains plenty of Kelley\u2019s signature offbeat humor, the cases reveal Avi as a \u201chaunted soul\u201d who does his work perhaps too passionately. \u201cIt\u2019s a difficult task not to lose yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Calling<\/em>, Series Premiere, Thursday,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> <\/span>November 10, Peacock<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><i data-stringify-type=\"italic\">This is an excerpt from TV Guide Magazine\u2019s 2022 Fall Preview issue.
