\n Presumptive vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris has chosen \u201cPioneer\u201d as her Secret Service code name, according to a report.<\/p>\n

Harris chose the moniker, reported by CNN, shortly after being placed under Secret Service protection last week, when she was tapp<\/a>ed as presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden\u2019s running mate.<\/p>\n

The California senator\u2019s code name choice appears to be a nod to the historic nature of her nomination, being the first female of color vice presidential nominee.<\/p>\n

Secret Service code names are known for often signifying something about that individual\u2019s character. Former President Obama\u2019s Secret Service code name is \u201cRenegade,\u201d former Vice President Biden\u2019s is \u201cCeltic,\u201d President Trump\u2019s is \u201cMogul\u201d and Vice President Pence\u2019s is \u201cHoosier.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the code names are sometimes changed over time for security reasons, they are often publicly known.<\/p>\n

Biden\u2019s code name \u201cCeltic\u201d is the same one he had during his years in the Obama administration. Jill Biden\u2019s code name is still \u201cCapri,\u201d as well, which is the same one she had as second lady.<\/p>\n

The code names are not created by the Secret Service themselves, according to ABC News<\/a>, citing a law enforcement source. Instead, they are created by the White House Communications Agency in partnership with the candidates.<\/p>\n

A Biden campaign spokesperson did not immedia<\/a>tely respond to The Post\u2019s request for comment on the code name.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
