No matter how tired I am, I will inevitably wake up at some point during the night and either need to either run to the bathroom or go to the kitchen for a glass of water. Because I refuse to turn on the lights as I stumble around, this often results in injuries. There are quite a few companies out there that offer some variation of this. Most of the time, these products are replacement outlets that require some electrical work to install. This means you have to pay close attention to what you\u2019re doing and hope there are no issues with your wiring later on.<\/p>\n<p>However, SnapPower\u2019s products don\u2019t require any batteries or wire work. The faceplates are designed to draw power from the screws on the outside of the outlet or switch. For the SwitchLights, the night lights default to \u201coff\u201d when the switch is engaged (meaning the room lights are on). Unlike most competitors\u2019 products, SnapPower also has built-in adjustment switches that let you toggle the nightlights to remain off or swap between two different brightness settings. Well, Maybe<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>According to SnapPower, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=y1cIPOU1u2o\">the installation process<\/a> for both GuideLights and SwitchLights is fairly simple. You remove the faceplate, slide the SnapPower product into place, screw the new faceplate on, and turn your breaker back on.<\/p>\n<p>Seems simple enough, right?<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, I ran into a few snags along the way with my own installation. For starters, I found that the prongs didn\u2019t line up accurately with all of my outlets or lights. Four total prongs are aligned to meet with the screws along the edges of the outlet or switch. I had a hard time getting everything to align just right to make the nightlights even work, so I eventually turned the breaker back on and played with the faceplate until I got enough of a connection. I do not recommend doing this.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_tip\"><p><strong>Tip:<\/strong> Pop your light switch\u2019s cover off and check if the screws underneath are compatible with SnapPower\u2019s four-prong design before buying.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I saw other reviews that mentioned similar issues both <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/customer-reviews\/R2I4JW761V96I7\/?tag=reviewgeekreviews-20\">on Amazon<\/a> and on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/redirect.viglink.com\/?key=204a528a336ede4177fff0d84a044482&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.snappower.com%2Fproducts%2Fswitchlight%3Fvariant%3D12544957055070&amp;cuid=xid:{xid}&amp;___trxnet=vg\">SnapPower\u2019s website<\/a>. This tells me SnapPower is aware of the issue, but possibly not interested in changing the design to make it adjustable.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, that wasn\u2019t the only issue I encountered during my installation. I also could not get the faceplates for two of the items to line up flush with the wall. The faceplates that were previously installed sat flush, so I believe it is an issue with the product, not my home.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1920px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-127270 size-full\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/p\/uploads\/2022\/08\/b80eadba.jpg\" alt=\"SnapPower Double Switchlight Not Sitting Flush With Wall\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" data-credittext=\"Megan Glosson \/ Review Geek\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span class=\"imagecredit\">Megan Glosson \/ Review Geek<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Although they aren\u2019t far enough away from the wall to cause a hazard, it\u2019s still concerning for those who have children or pets (I have both). I installed several of them throughout the house for a variety of purposes, and all of them proved beneficial.<\/p>\n<p>The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/SnapPower-SwitchLight-Double-Gang-Switches-Built\/dp\/B098BM6GVY\/?tag=reviewgeekreviews-20\">double-gang switch SwitchLight<\/a> went in my kids\u2019 room so they could have a night light that was in a more visible area than the floor (as night lights\u00a0normally are). My youngest daughter said the light made her \u201cfeel safe\u201d and allowed her to see the room enough to get to the bathroom if needed.<\/p>\n<p>I also placed a light in each of the bathrooms in our house. This made it easy to use the bathroom at night without turning on the lights.
