His impact is easily demonstrated in the way today\u2019s directors like Jordan Peele, Ryan Coogler, Nia DaCosta, and Barry Jenkins use unexpected genres and stories to talk about race. And even with that lineup of talent, Singleton\u2019s shocking death in 2019 left a g<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ing hole in Black culture, particularly in the world of film. As a means to preserve his legacy, USC School of Cinematic Arts, USC African American Cinema Society and USC Visions &amp; Voices are announcing the year-long <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theroot.com\/legendary-director-john-singleton-receives-his-flowers-1849475625\">tribute, <em>John Singleton: A Celebration<\/em>.<\/a><br \/>\n <!-- No winning ad found for zone: word count #1! --><!-- No winning ad found for zone: below first paragraph! --><!-- No winning ad found for zone: mid intro! --><br \/>\nThe special screenings begin Friday, September 9, 2022, with the Oscar-nominated classic <em>Boyz n the Hood<\/em>, which is followed by a discussion moderated by legendary writer\/director Robert Townsend (<em>Hollywood Shuffle<\/em>). He made hard topics important long before they became a regular part of our daily conversations.
