\n The Dark Knight is descending on Kansas City.<\/p>\n

Former Mets ace Matt Harvey\u2019s latest attempt to resurrect his once-promising MLB career received a jolt Tuesday when he was called up by the Royals, according to MLB Network. He will be added to the 40-man roster in time for Wednesday\u2019s doubleheader against the Reds.<\/p>\n

Harvey, 31, signed a minor-league contract with the Royals last month.<\/p>\n

In slightly more than two years since leaving the Mets, Harvey has played for the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Angels, and signed a minor-league contract with the Oakland Athletics late last season.<\/p>\n

Harvey in a Royals uniform is a bit ironic.<\/p>\n

In his last big game<\/a> with the Mets, Harvey talked his way into remaining on the mound for the top of the ninth inning in Game 5 of the 2015 World Series<\/a> against the Royals despite throwing more than 100 pitches. The Royals scored twice to force extra innings and eventually won the clincher.<\/p>\n

Harvey is 42-39 with a 3.98 ERA in his career, but most of his brilliance (and his Batman-inspired nickname) came from 2012-15, even with a missed 2014 season during that span. He was 3-5 with a 7.09 ERA in 12 starts for the Angels last season.<\/p>\n

It is unclear whether Harvey will be used as a starter or out of the bullpen by the pitching-strapp<\/a>ed Royals, who are 9-14 and tied for last place in the American League Central.<\/p>\n

Harvey told The Post in May that he considered he might not get another shot.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have thought about it here and there,\u201d Harvey said. \u201cI haven\u2019t not had a job in 10 years. It\u2019s definitely different, but it\u2019s exciting at the same time because I feel so good mechanically. I hope somebody gives me a shot. I feel like I have many more years in me.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
