\n NBCUniversal ousted Vice Chairman Ron Meyer Tuesday after he admitted to settling a lawsuit with a woman with whom he\u2019d had a brief \u201cconsensual affair.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement, Meyer said he disclosed the deal \u2014 which he made \u201cunder threat\u201d \u2014 to his family and the company because it had led \u201cother parties\u201d to try and extort him.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBased on Ron\u2019s disclosure of these actions, we have mutually concluded that Ron should leave the company, effective immedia<\/a>tely,\u201d NBCU CEO Jeff Shell said in a statement that described Meyer\u2019s behavior as \u201cnot consistent with our company policies or values.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meyer\u2019s hasty exit brought an end to his 25-year career at NBCUniversal. His statement offered scant details about his settlement with the unnamed woman, other than that their brief and consensual affair took place \u201cmany years ago\u201d and that she had made \u201cfalse accusations\u201d against him.<\/p>\n

People who learned about the settlement have \u201ccontinuously attempted to extort me into paying them money\u201d by threatening to publish false claims about Meyer or falsely implicate NBCUniversal in the ordeal, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI regret what has happ<\/a>ened and I am sorry for all the people in my life I may have let down, especially and most importantly, my family,\u201d Meyer said.<\/p>\n

Meyer joined NBCUniversal after founding the Creative Artists Agency and growing it into one of Hollywood\u2019s dominant talent agencies. He started as president and chief operating officer at Universal Studios before he was promoted in September 2013.<\/p>\n

NBCU has no current plans to replace Meyer\u2019s position, a source close to the company said. His departure comes less than two weeks after Comcast-owned NBCU\u00a0ousted top executive Paul Telegdy\u00a0following a Hollywood Reporter expos\u00e9 alleging that he oversaw a \u201ctoxic environment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The sudden shakeups followed a spate of layoffs at NBCUniversal, whose revenues\u00a0sank 25.4 percent\u00a0in the second quarter as the coronavirus pandemic shuttered theme parks and scuttled movie premieres.<\/p>\n

The financial pain didn\u2019t stop the company from sending axed staffers home in a fleet of black SUVs amid the cuts, which were expected to affect less than 10 percent of NBCU\u2019s workforce,\u00a0as The Post reported this month.<\/p>\n
