Led by Amandla Stenberg, <em>The Acolyte <\/em>is a <em>Star Wars<\/em> prequel <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> set further back in time than any story in the franchise \u2014 a full century before the events of <em>Star Wars: Episode I \u2014 The Phantom Menace. <\/em>Filming for the new series is set to begin in late Fall 2022 in London.<\/p>\n<p>Stenberg is the only confirmed cast member for the prequel. Turner-Smith is reportedly finalizing a deal to co-star in the series, per <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2022\/09\/the-acolyte-jodie-turner-smithcast-star-wars-series-disney-plus-1235109427\/\"><em>Deadline<\/em><\/a>, but details about the role being kept under tight lock and key. <em>The Acolyte<\/em> is being developed and showrun by Leslye Headland, the writer and director of Netflix\u2018s <em>Russian <\/em><em>Doll<\/em>, whose love of <em>Star Wars <\/em>runs deep.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy relationship with <em>Star Wars<\/em> probably runs the span of most of my life, and it has changed over the decades,\u201d Headland told <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.avclub.com\/leslye-headland-s-favorite-star-wars-is-the-star-wars-y-1847118044\"><em>A.V. Club<\/em>.<\/a> \u201cWhen I was younger, I devoured the films on home video and absolutely loved them \u2014 just a deep connection to the original trilogy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Acolyte<\/em> will be the sixth <em>Star Wars<\/em> series on Lucas film\u2019s television roster, joining <em>Obi Wan-Kenobi, The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, <\/em>and <em>Andor<\/em>. Stenberg\u2019s casting was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNext stop: a galaxy far, far away\u2026 I am so excited to finally announce I\u2019m joining Star Wars: #TheAcolyte! Honored is an understatement. May the Force be with you,\u201d Stenberg wrote on Instagram when the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> broke.<\/p>\n<p>Stenberg was wearing a Darth Maul shirt in the announcement post, which may hint that this series will be focusing on some very dark forces. The series will also take place near the end of the High Republic period, some 200 years before the start of the Skywalker Saga. Another plot hint can be found in the name. In the <em>Star Wars<\/em> universe, an acolyte is someone with force abilities who was taught by a Sith Lord. The series has been described as a \u201cmystery thriller\u201d by LucasFilm.<\/p>\n<p>Smith\u2019s recent work can be seen in AMC+\u2018s <em>Anne Boleyn<\/em>. Other TV credits include <em>Jett<\/em>, <em>Nightflyers<\/em>, and <em>The Last Ship<\/em>.
