\n Cubs legend Mark Grace is in hot water over offensive comments made on-air on Saturday in which he repeatedly referred to his ex-wife as \u201cthe dingbat.\u201d<\/p>\n

The unfiltered 56-year-old was forced to apologize shortly after the derogatory remarks and may still face disciplinary action from Marquee Sports Network, according to TMZ.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring today\u2019s game<\/a> I referred to my ex-wife in a way that I absolutely should not have,\u201d he said in a statement following the broadcast of the Brewers-Cubs game. \u201cI want everyone to know how very sorry I am about that. My remarks were offensive and inapp<\/a>ropriate, and I deeply apologize.\u201d<\/p>\n

The incident occurred when Grace \u2014 who was hired by Marquee in February \u2014 joined announcers Len Kasper and Jim Deshaies and shared a rambling anecdote during the top of the sixth inning about a time in which his ex-wife accidentally parked in a spot reserved for former MLB commissioner Bud Selig.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s early afternoon and my ex-wife \u2014 I\u2019m going to go Archie Bunker on you guys a little bit \u2014 I called her \u2018the dingbat,’\u201d he said in reference to the \u201cAll In The Family\u201d character, who used to refer to his spouse as such.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018Honey, why don\u2019t you drop me off at county stadium. \u2026 She decides a few hours later she\u2019s going to come to the game a little bit early. \u2026 I\u2019m getting ready for the game, I\u2019m starting to get my game face on and all that song and dance. The business clubhouse guy comes running to my locker and he\u2019s got this look of panic on his face. He\u2019s like, \u2018Grace, I just got a call. Did you park your car in Bud Selig\u2019s parking space?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought, \u2018oh my god, the dingbat parked in Bud\u2019s spot.’\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Grace has come under fire for making off-color comments about women. In 2003, he infamously described a \u201cslumpbuster\u201d to Jim Rome as \u201clay[ing] the wood\u201d to \u201cthe fattest, gnarliest, grossest chick\u201d and spoke of hanging photos of \u201cnaked, 250-pound babes\u201d in the team\u2019s locker room during the same interview.<\/p>\n

Grace was a World Series<\/a> champion with the Diamondbacks in 2001. Prior to his stint in Arizona, the first baseman played for the Cubs from 1988 to 2000 and won four Gold Glove awards and was named to three All-Star teams.<\/p>\n

\u201cBud was none too pleased,\u201d he added. \u201cHowever, I\u2019ve always gotten along with the former commissioner and I actually really like Bud.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
