In our sorrow, let us remember and draw strength from the light of her example.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>And President Joe Biden told the White House press pool on Friday that he\u2019ll be at Queen Elizabeth\u2019s funeral to pay his respects. \u201cYes. I don\u2019t know what the details are yet, but I\u2019ll be going,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<div id=\"cx-membership-tile\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Related:<\/strong> \u2018She defined an era\u2019: President Joe Biden mourns Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s death<\/p>\n<p>The Buckingham Palace statement noted that King Charles III wishes for \u201ca period of Royal Mourning be observed from now until seven days after The Queen\u2019s Funeral.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The mourning period includes flags being set to half mast at U.K. royal residences. They will remain there until 8 a.m. local time on the morning after the final day of \u201cRoyal Mourning.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Royal gun salutes were also fired in London on Friday in Hyde Park by the King\u2019s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, and at the Tower of London by the Honourable Artillery Company. There is also a contingency plan to transport the royal remains back to London by plane, if needed.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted, of course, that the details of \u201cOperation London Bridge\u201d may have changed since then. She would lie in state at Westminster Hall for three or four days, according to the Politico and BBC reports. Members of the public will be allowed to come and pay their respects.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-60617519\" class=\"icon none\">BBC explains<\/a> that her coffin will lie on a raised platform called a catafalque. And each corner of the platform will be guarded by soldiers from units serving the royal household. Her coffin will be draped in the Royal Standard (a flag representing the Sovereign and the U.K.) and topped with the Imperial State Crown, orb and scepter. <\/p>\n<p>Next, a state funeral would be held at the historic Westminster Abbey church \u2014 where Britain\u2019s queens and kings are crowned \u2014 on Sept. 19.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There will then be a funeral procession (also expected to feature the royal family) to Windsor Castle\u2019s St. George\u2019s Chapel.
