A private-school education is a significant financial commitment, so families must be fully aware of what\u2019s involved before making any decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Here are four crucial questions to ask yourself to ensure paying for private school is financially feasible for your family.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Have_we_started_saving\"><\/span>Have we started saving?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>How much have you already put aside for your child\u2019s private-school education? If you don\u2019t have a wealth of disposable income, saving is a must\u2013and the earlier you begin, the better. Parents can also begin claiming the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/employment-social-development\/news\/2022\/07\/families-across-canada-will-see-increase-in-canada-child-benefit.html\">Canada Child Benefit<\/a>\u2013which is up to $6,997 (depending on the age of your child) for 2022-23\u2013every year as soon as their child is born. No matter your income, consulting with a financial planner is invaluable in this regard. As well, investigate whether there are payment plans available at your private school of choice, so the cost of tuition can be spread out over time. \u201cParents aren\u2019t always aware that independent schools offer different tuition payment options, including a monthly payment plan and the use of credit cards for tuition payments,\u201d says Liisa Stephenson, communications associate director, at Toronto\u2019s Branksome Hall.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Do_we_know_what_tuition_includes\"><\/span>Do we know what tuition includes?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>One of the first things parents should find out is what a school\u2019s tuition covers and what it doesn\u2019t, as the latter could result in considerable additional expenses. Will you need to pay for a uniform? School supplies? Meals? \u201cOur tuition fees cover the majority of student activities, and we aim to keep additional charges to a minimum,\u201d says Tara Silver, principal of The Linden School in Toronto. For Linden School students, expenses such as books, field <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a>s, yearbooks and some school events are included. At Branksome Hall, tuition also covers \u201ccore services related to students\u2019 well-being, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a>-emotional learning, and entrepreneurship and innovation,\u201d says Stephenson.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_are_we_prepared_to_sacrifice_or_change_financially\"><\/span>What are we prepared to sacrifice or change, financially?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>It\u2019s not unusual for parents to make financial sacrifices to pay for a private-school education, so it\u2019s important to ask yourself what you and your family are willing to give up to redirect funds towards tuition.
